Thoughts, like Vapor

As soon as my muse and gas like brain return to normal I'll try and set a normal pace for this blog. With her sick and in pain our lives have flipped to the erratic side of life.

As an example yesterday I sat in a local emergency room from zero five hundred until thirteen hundred....with a batch of drunks, druggies, loonies, and democritters.

She's fine. Scheduled for procedures in early June.  Hopefully by then the white shirts will have a diagnosis.

You will now understand my thought process, bad in the best of times, is now fleeting with occasional puffs of vapor.

Please know I have read and do appreciate all of your kind and thoughtful comments and prayers. I have gone days when this computer (or any computer) hasn't crossed my mind. Books, newspapers, and the Kindle have been my chosen escape. I will make every effort, soon I hope, to answer all comments.

Don't worry. With proper medication my Sweet Wife is functional, and at times, very happy. She continually tells me to have faith. She's stays quite busy with her flower beds. I did indeed sneak a few herbs into the mix. She welds the water can with aplomb.

In the  meantime I've decided to study the Daily Racing Form and take a ride on the ponies....busy mind and all that...

Again, thank you.

Me, the Owl

I should grow feathers and talons and join the friggin owls on the limb. Here it is three-thirty in the friggin morning and I'm still awake. Just sat the Kindle down and I'm on my second glass of cold milk. Aside here - next gallon of milk I buy will be the full fat, bring on the cream, real milk. I'm sick of this watery pale white stuff.

I'm this close to downing a full bottle of sleep medication. Took one earlier...nothing, nada. Might as well eat candy. I expected to open my business between eight and nine...what, five hours from now. I'm telling 'ya, if I find sleep between now and then...it isn't gonna happen. Damn, I hate late middle age.

Well...just look at me. I've written a rant.

Excuse me. I've another chapter to read.

Oh, I've replied to your most kind comments. You can thank me in the morning, ah wait....never mind.

Stolen Pleasure

The doctors office called today. They told me they searched the office and exam rooms for my Kindle. It wasn't there. Like I didn't know this before I even asked them to look around.

Told Sweet Wife and she said, "Well, your birthday is just a few days away why don't you order a new one and I'll make it your gift."  She's like that...sweet.
So, tonight I did order a new one. They've updated the Kindle Keyboard. Free anytime connectivity, 3G. Of course the price has been updated too. Seems I can reload the new one with all the books in my Amazon account, nice.

It'll be a nice 34th birthday gift....

The Kindle

My shame now in check, head held low, I now announce the arrival of my new Kindle.

With a wi-fi connection this sucker is fast. Surprised the heck out of me. I used it yesterday while I waited for Little Bit to eat her breakfast. It downloaded a novel in seconds. Easy to read, simple instructions.

It will never replace my beloved traditional books, but I must admit with this mini-depression, and with my tight fisted spending habits, a two dollar downloaded novel makes since to me. Highly recommended.

What I'm Reading & Kindle

I can hear my friends laughing. Yes, I broke down and ordered a Kindle. Here I am, the analog guy living in a digital world; the man that always made fun of the silly boys and girls with their little gray screen sitting on the sandy beaches glaring at what should be a good 'ole clothe bound book, paper, by God, with the odors of time soaked deep inside.

How will I ever live this down - me, a man with a library filled with books numbered in the thousands, now a wussy-assed Kindle owner. Lord forgive me. But, there are all those wonderful little self-published novels restricted to Kindle download, and here I am Kindle-less, the ignorant ink stained finger, paper book dinosaur.

So, a couple of days ago I sallyforthed and clicked that 'buy' button at Amazon. How I miss the time when Amazon sold books and nothing but books. I'm old, a relic.

Anyhow, here's my current read.  Forgive my poor photography.

I depart in shame.
