Black Cast Iron

If you like to cook and like classic old cast iron, may I present to you, http://blackirondude.blogspot.com/

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, any man that doesn't know how to cook, or turns pale and sneaks away when confronted with the thought of food preparation, well, he's as useless as tits on a bull.

This nice blog incorporates the history, care and proper handling techniques of classic cast iron cookware. After just a bit of research in the archives of his blog I discovered a frying pan I purchased back in the 1970's is at least 100 years old; Its an old piece of Pique Ware. His photographs are top notch too. Take a look...

Have a great evening.
Intelligentsia word of the day - ebullient.

  7. Lila, thank you.

JUGM, we used to clean our grubby cast iron by throwing into a roaring campfire. After about twenty minutes, take out and season.

Mudbug, you are more than welcome.

PioneerPreppy, good question. I've had problems for a few weeks now. Graphics seldom load on the first try, refresh, refresh, refresh.

But I guess I did enough cooking on cast iron in my day. In a bad storm, no lights, I showed my son how to make perfect homemade biscuits using a cast iron Dutch oven in the Fireplace and putting the coals on the lid to cook evenly--they were great!Love those Cat Head Biscuits, 4th generation biscuit maker here!
