Nope

Early today I came very close to a bulk ammunition order. Really friggin close. We're talkin' finger paused above the key...then I did the math.

It's hard to justify fifty odd cents a round.

Not gonna do it, and that's all I have for the evening. Now I need to reply to all your kind comments.

Later.

Stephen

  1. I came close to ordering 500 rounds of 22LR today as well, for 7 cents per round. By the time I registered for their site, it was all gone. Oh well...maybe tomorrow.

  2. Bulk rate? I still can't do it. Hurts too much. Rumor has is prices are coming down, but I don't see much sign of it.

    1. Neither do I...other than a thirty percent increase across the board.

  3. I agree ammo prices are just too high especially when you look at scrap metal prices and how they have fallen. There is no justification for it. Why did you know a nickle isn't even worth a nickle any longer?

I am not buying ammo until the price comes down I will be content with just reloading some of the stores I have for now.

    1. Since I have quite a bit of ammo stored I really haven't a need for more, but I sometimes can't resist the urge of one more purchase. I sincerely doubt the price of ammunition will ever return to those levels pre-obama.

  4. I don't know when this ammo pricing madness will end but fortunately I stocked up 12 years ago when 5.56 was $125 per 1,000 delivered. Just wait as long as you can but don't go below your comfort level of stock.

    1. So did I, Mike. I've a nice stash. I just get the 'wants.' Especially for handgun calibers.

  5. I think ammo is going the same route diesel did. Cheap for years, then one day it just surpassed gas in price per gallon and it's never coming back down.

  6. For .45, that's damn near a steal anymore... sigh Just before I left, I was looking at $44/box for .45

    1. It wasn't forty-five I wanted and almost purchased but even if it were I'd not pay their prices. Thanks, my friend.

  7. I was in China-Mart the other day pricing various calibers. Example .45 white box Winchester 100 count was $43 and change per box. A couple of days later I wandered through Gander Mountain to take a gander at their offerings.

There, the same exact same box of .45 that I mentioned above was $59 and change. $16 per box more. The shelves were loaded and I couldn't see a shortage of anything except 22LR. The locals were wandering up and down the ammo aisles, a few with their mouths hanging open, and NO one was buying.

Finally as I walked through the checkout lines, I saw one guy with a box of shotgun shells inline.

    1. It's the same here at our local Gander. The price is silly...and .22 is rare indeed. Thankfully I've several thousand rounds stashed. Thanks, Bro.

    2. Same here. Gander high, very few lots of .22 to be had and I'll be damned if I understand the reason. Thankfully I've several thousand rounds stashed. Thanks, Bro.
