Too Much Stuff, And a Request

You know you have too much stuff when you find a black bag filled with firearm magazines that fit several different firearms you're not even sure you still own.

The bag, marked Glock, was found under a box. The box contained, in no special order, a rifle scope, one full fifty round box of Winchester .44 magnum, ditto box of Federal .40, and two nice 1911 mags - one held four rounds of .45 hollow points. Never mind the vintage box of Remington .38 special sold circa 1960. Nice collectable box.

I need therapy. This lost and found treasure thing happens far too often for my comfort.

Now, may I ask you, my nice readers for a favor? Pretty please.....if you have the time, when you are out and about your chores would you please price check the asking price of a one gallon can of Coleman Camp Fuel. Not the little plastic 32oz bottles, the cans. Even off brands. The fuel is normally sold at Wally World, K-Mart, and almost all hardware and sporting goods stores.

I'd really like to hear from my European and Asian readers too. I know you're out there. And, for my reader in Diego Garcia....what uniform do you wear? Been there and done that, my friend.

My friend Senior checked his local Wal-Mart late this afternoon and said the price was $12.98 here, quite a huge increase in cost over last year.

Thank you all, very much for you time and effort.

Stephen

  1. If you go to the store with a really big trench coat you can pick up a gallon for FREE.

  3. I may not envy your Florida Zombie target weather but damnit you guys and the finding of old forgotten ammo and such is kinda maddening.

    1. As you know, it comes with age - stuff just kinda piles itself into the corners and crannies of my home and office. In a corner of my garage is a pile of ammo boxes. It takes quite an effort to dig into the pile for certain calibers. It's maddening. Tonight's bag was found atop my bedroom gun safe. Near the back. Makes me feel like an old fart without any smidgen of memory. Jump in the truck and you are more than invited to the zombie shoot.

  4. I know, price is crazy. Last year it was just shy of $10 at wally-world. I was buying the academy sports brand for less than $8. I need to run some 93 octane thru my stuff since it is mostly duel fuel. I worry about ethanol though.

    1. At the Gate, corner of 295 and Hecksher Drive....single pump with ethanol free high octane fuel. Pricey but better the the junk in the other pumps.

    2. Excuse, me - 'better than the junk.' That installed the pump for marine engines. I miss the old white gas Amaco once sold.

    3. I forgot about the Marine gas, thanks.

  5. Pricey, but your local airport Fixed Base Operator sells ethanol free fuel.

  7. At least you are just forgetting about where you put ammo. I have to put my wallet my glasses, and my keys in a special box when I come in the door because my wife got tired of me laying them down and then forgetting where.

    1. It just feels strange to find items, like a rifle scope, and you don't remember it or from where it came, how much you paid....

It truly is like finding lost treasure. Who knew...a brand new box of .44's.

That same can of fuel is selling here at 19.99 Canadian dollars. This works out to $17.97 US at todays exchange rate.

    1. At least the stuff is good for thirty years or so...not a bad investment, but still, quite an increase over the last two years.

    2. I have enough fuel for a while. I do a great deal of cooking on a Coleman stove and the lamps have and will continue to provide lots of light at my camps.

    3. Good. I too have a nice supply but I'm always happy to add a few more gallons for that just in case dark time in the future. Thanks, my friend.

  9. Back in the 70's when we were young and broke, we used Amoco unleaded gas in our Coleman stove and also the Coleman lantern. I don't remember if the stove instructions stated one could or we were just dare devils.

    1. Indeed, good 'ole Amoco white gas. Pure and clean. Do you still own your Coleman gear?

    2. EX got custody of all the camping gear. The next time he makes a rare visit to the Marine, I will ask if he still has them. Papa Bear and I purchased a stove and lantern in the late 80's. We still have those but we don't get to camp any longer. We have used them during power outages but they use the little propane bottles. Still great gear to have on hand and Papa Bear has cases and cases of the propane bottles.

    3. Good. I own mine not only for camping but also when things go bump in the night and the power is out.

  11. I don't have any problems keeping my magazines straight, but I have to admit, the last time I worked on my scopes, I seemed to have a few I didn't really remember how I got them.
