The First

The Christmas tree is down and all the decorations and paraphernalia back in the attic. This is supposed be a day of relaxation, rest.

After the house was restored to normal I took a couple of hours and pulled my truck into the driveway and did a bit of preventative maintenance on it and the wife's car. Then grabbed my blower and cleaned the walkways and drive of pine needles, again.

In short, I'm tired. After a nice long shower I took a nap, for all of fifteen seconds. Sweet Wife woke and asked me if I'd make cornbread for dinner. Never argue with a hungry woman.

I understand the new season of Dual Survival begins this evening. I like it.

Hope you ladies and gentlemen had nice day.

Stephen

  1. Sounds like a busy day. Our decorations normally come day on the 1st, but with Wife still hurting, she said we'd wait a week.

So I washed my truck & am working on the laundry, instead.

  2. In the old days, my tree and everything in the house went into the basement Christmas NIGHT. Glad to have the gaudy decorations gone and sanity back.

Now, with only five meager things sitting on the counter, it was gone Christmas evening, earlier than usual. lol

Today, Stud scrubbed the sidewalk and lanai while I fried potatoes and porkchops. Gotta eat. Gotta clean. Gotta get back to normalcy.

  3. OMG. DUAL SURVIVAL is back??? I LOVE that show! They started out with a lot of backbiting, but someone must have told them to join forces. On the other hand, BAREFOOT? REALLY?

  4. Stephen,

It sounds like you were pretty busy today. Do you have a special recipe for your cornbread? I love watching Dual Survivor, from what I understand Cody has a new partner this season. I'm going to miss Dave Canterbury.

    1. My cornbread, not really...as far as Dave it seems he fudged his military record a bit..too bad but at least he served and I still like him. Thanks, Sandy.

  5. It's so curious to sit here in the northern Ohio . . the snow the only lightness outside . . and read of you blowing pine needles off walkways . .

What a wonderful world. Happy New Year, Stephen.

    1. You know, Cathy, I'd swap some snow with you for the pine needles. Change is good. You have a great New Year too. Thanks, Sweet Lady.

  7. I actually got a lot of resting done today. It was everything I'd hoped. :)

There's a couple of seasons of Dual Survival out on Netflix. I enjoyed them. There guys are pretty different from each other, but find ways to work together. For me, that's the most important lesson of the show.

  8. Happy New Year to you and Sweet Wife! No rest for me today. Spent it with family, eating cornbread, blackeyes and ham!

Last remnant of Christmas snow gone, but very cold here.

    Blessings!

  9. Just a tip, after you service your vehicle you can burn the old motor oil and it will ward off mosquitoes, it also really ticks of the environmental freaks which is a nice bonus. Just a helpful hint for the new year.
