Survival Rifles; The Good, Bad and Ugly

Not my chipper self this morning. Muse is silent. It's been a while since I've posted any gun porn. I came across this selection of pictures this morning.

Above, this is someone's idea of a survival weapon. Sorry, but it's just wrong and ugly to boot. It's purpose? Beats the heck out of me.

Here's a little Henry .22 with a threaded barrel. A practical selection. I'd dump the scope. Nice sling.

Two Springfield Armory M6's...my choice. These are perfect for their intended purpose.

This is just so wrong....they're too ugly to shoot, much less own.

I have a doctor's appointment in a couple of hours...at least I'll be able to breath some fresh air. See you guys later.

Stephen

    1. Now, Bubba, you know how much I love the M1A, but she's a bit heavy for a hump in a pack as a survival rifle...then again, she probably already be in my arms.

  4. The tripod mounted one could be set up with a tripwire, on a game trail with narrowing chutes, to direct he prey into the field of fire. This way, one could have a unattended shot at the prey.

    Just sayin...

  5. I'm with you. The M6 rifles are the only ones worth having, with the exception of that Henry minus it's silly over-kill scope.

    1. I'd pay a pretty penny for an M6, but only private sale. Scopes, break. Good iron sights are the work horses of good battle rifles. Thanks, Murphy.

  6. For a survival rifle, I'm fond of my black Nylon 66. It's light, durable, accurate and holds 15 rounds. Easy to carry hundreds of rounds.

  8. Those last two look like they were dragged straight from the mudpuddle for their pictures.
