Books

It's been nice to have an extra day off. Problem is when I have time like this, in the quiet, I buy stuff. Sigh.

Books, specifically.

I have a weakness for food themed books. 'Honey from Weeds.'

Amazon has gotten stingy with their book cover photos, sorry. 'Nobody Knows The Truffles I've Seen.'

Give 'em a try.

Stephen

  1. I know that feeling Stephen, between books and kitchen tools I can spend a paycheck in a heartbeat. I notice you do some very nice cooking yourself. I will be posting more here now that I am up and running again. New job new move took it out of me. That grandbaby of yours seems to be at the age of the "Big Question" of life and death. I remember that age with mine it was hard. Her MawMaw passed when she was 8 and it was hard to explain then hell its still hard to explain. anyway great stuff sir I enjoy it.

    1. We do agree...I can't walk thru an antique market without the purchase of some old bowl or other kitchen tool. Books are my greatest weakness. Yes, Little Bit is curious, and as you've said, it's hard to explain such things to little ones. Thank you my friend.

  2. I am trying not to get anymore books but every week when I stop at the thrift store, I seem to come back with at least one.

  3. Becky, even with thousands of books in my home I always find room for a few more. Thanks, Sweet Lady.

  4. oh Stephen...i am book crazy too! i gave away close to 100 books to friends and 6 banker's boxes of books to a second hand book store before we left the city. cutting my books down to only 75 banker's boxes of books for the move almost killed me - arghghghgh!

i love the book "honey from a weed" and i think that if you like that, you may also like this one:

"Extra Virginity: the Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil" (http://www.extravirginity.com/). it is an awesome book that deals with the history of olive oil, the methods in how to properly produce it and how big companies are forcing out traditional olive oil farmers and that there is almost no regulation on who can slap an "extra virgin olive oil" label on their product.

it is written by a blog friend's husband, they live in Liguria in a beautiful olive grove. her blog about her amazing life in the mediterranean can be found here:

you may like this book...or not...i find it fascinating. and i loved all of the tips about how to find out if your extra virgin cold pressed olive oil is done in the traditional way or the Walmart way. and i now know how to choose my olive oils very carefully.

this book has only recently been published but it already has an article about it on Business Insider...BI is always ahead of the game!

check it out. i hope that you will enjoy but if not, it hurt nothing in sharing this with you.

    your friend,
    kymber

  5. Yes, I have a few books. But relatively few food-themed ones.

  6. Russell, that's a shame, sorry. But hey, it isn't too late to try one. Thanks for the comment.
