The M-14

This video is fodder for the weekend while I spend some time with my family. I'll see you Tuesday. Have a great weekend. By the way, this is my 'go to' rifle.

  1. Hmmm, not sure why I don't own one yet. I need to maybe re-organize the collection and sell some I don't use for some I'd like (like an M14).

  3. This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. Her name is Josie. Amen to the go to rifle to get you out of tough situations. Maybe that's why we have them brother.

  4. AR 10 or M1A, the 7.62x51 is a proven round to take care of business, which we all can say, American Made battle rifles and ammo rock the battlefield. Have a CETME to back up Josie but will never compare to her.

  5. mmasse, I understand, the History Channel has its issues without a doubt, as does Discovery. The M14 was the replacement, they thought, for the Garand, but on full auto it just didn't cut the mustard. Then Mr. Stoner tried his hand and with after many setbacks, succeeded. I like them all. Even the AR-10. Thank you for your kind and welcome comments.

  6. well....we don't got a lot of weapons but i love the ones we have. we need them mainly for hunting but they serve double-duty as protection as well.

the first is a mossberg 22 (320BA) and is approximately 30 yrs old but has been kept in mint condition.

the second is a beautiful 20yr old marlin 444S.

i can fire both but the marlin has a hell of a kickback! in the event of zombie attack i am grabbing the mossberg or a big, heavy stick!

my personal fave is a 40yr old ben pearson cougar re-curve that my hubby PREFERS over the other two...and he is a wicked shot with that thing! when i see him target-practicing with that thing, like Duke, i run for the kleenex...if you saw him, you'd know exactly why. he's my baby, he's my man!

  8. Stassja, thank you. Wish I had your husband's talent with a bow. Recurves are a difficult bow to shoot with accuracy even for the best.

Mountain Rifleman, I love my M1 too. But my heart is the M1A.

  9. Stephen - thanks for that compliment...it means alot to both of us. he thought that what i wrote came across as bragging - and it WAS on my part. he is pretty low-keyed and doesn't show off - he's lovely.

anyway - he will kill me for bragging more - but he has accurate aim with a re-curve from both sides - he can fire from the right and he has a left-handed re-curve - it is really old - he got it from ebay and we have no idea what the make it is - but it sure is nice.

he has been interested in bows since he was a child. taught himself how to use them. then a few years ago he took a bow-hunting course and his FEMALE instructor showed him that while doing his line of sight eye-test to see which eye was dominant - it turned out that both eyes were dominant so she told him to start practicing using his left hand. and he did and during his course she would have him switch from left to right (which is why we needed the left-hand bow).

and to top it all off - he used to go to the ranges and practice all the time with the Georgian (FSU) Olympic coach...he was an old man but went out to the ranges and taught my hubby a ton of tricks.

so just wanted to share all of that with you because i think you can appreciate it. yes i am bragging. i am very proud of him.

thanks for letting me hog your comments all the time!
