  2. You can get one for under $400 on Amazon or WalMart!

Question about the movie you have in the right margin, "The Road". I saw it at the store yesterday and read the blurb, but I wondered if you could give me more than "Man and son wander through post-Apocalyptic America."

    Thanks !

  3. I'd be interested in your comments about 'The Road' too. I saw the preview on a Netflix movie we rented and thought I would add it to the list. My husband wasn't so inspired by the preview, but I thought it looked good.

    Your opinion please?

  4. HossBoss and Kris - the novel was written by Cormic MaCarthy (and please excuse the spelling,I just jumped up to find my copy and can't)the book is excellent reading, but remember, not all of us have the same taste. The movie (like the novel) is dark and gritty. Not all 'get the movie.' It's not an end of the world movie. The theme is the love of a father for his son and the extreme measures he takes to protect him after (years) the so called end of the world. You will notice soon into the movie the facts or reason for the apocalypse isn't mentioned. Now, having said all this, the movie is a good motivator for all those with one or two days of food stored away and sixteen shotgun shells and a box of grandfather's .38 specials in little Lizzy's dresser. It isn't for children. It will make you cry.

  5. Thanks for the review, Stephen. I am adding it to our Netflix list. For the most part, our taste in movies is in sync, but we have an unspoken understanding that if ONE OF US (mostly me) sits through movies that more to the other's liking than our own, the OTHER ONE should occasionally do so as well. I subject him to very few movies that would be absolutely of the 'chick flick' variety and the only thing that sounds remotely 'chicky' about this movie is that you mentioned it will make you cry. So I'm adding it to the list. Thank you!

  6. HossBoss you're more than welcome. My friend Arsenius over at 'Living Out There' I believe also has a review of the novel. Trust me, your husband will have a wet eye moment too.

  7. I feel your pain. I post from my Droid on occassion. Ugh.

About The Road: I had to watch it in segments. That just might be the MOST disturbing movie I've ever seen. Took me about four days to watch the whole thing. Thought Wifey should watch it. Unfortunately, I described it first. No there's NO chance she'll watch it now.

  8. OJD, I can understand a mother's reluctance to watch the movie. It still has much to offer. You've just got to dig for it.
