Cranberries in March

Still here, just busy. She wanted baked turkey, with dressing and gravy. I am but her humble servant and as I type the bird is in the oven. She asked about cranberries....so I walked to the garage freezer and brought forth the red goodness. The cranberry sauce chills. Guess we'll have a holiday dish in March.

I aim to please.

The winds of today have forced me inside. I cannot paint under these conditions. So once again my Coleman stove restoration has been delayed, well almost, I did clean and polish a few minor fittings and screws and shot a layer of primer on each. If I can remember I'll snap a few pictures. The stove body is completely disassemble and primed...not much to show.

Time to baste the bird, and read..see 'ya later.

  1. I never thought of having turkey just to have it. I think we only have turkey on Thanksgiving. But it makes sense, you could have a lot of good sandwiches with the left overs.

    1. My lunch today, here at the shop, is a turkey sandwich....its a good thing. We buy turkey at Costco...sure stretches the budget.

  2. I was in the grocery store the other day, perusing the frozen food aisle and came across a Marie Callender turkey and dressing dinner. I almost bought it.

One of my favorite sandwiches is baked turkey, on whole wheat, with mayonnaise and sweet pickles. It's what I'd have packed in my lunch for days after the holiday meals, when I was a youth.

    Enjoy.

    2. I love those MC turkey dinners!

The stuffing is great, but the veggies need just a dab of butter to liven them up!

    3. Jess, don't for the tomato...I have one in the refrigerator and it'll be my lunch.

      Jealous is good.

Thanks, drjim. BTW, you should list your ebay items on your blog....too much to sift thru on ebay to find your stuff.

  3. And I'm out cleaning the garage again today. So far I've listed and sold about a dozen items on eBay, and I have about that many more to get rid of today.

The money from all the old stuff I'm selling will go into the "car fund" to help restore Ms. Swan, with some left over for ammo to feed my M1.

    1. I really need to knuckle down and get my ham license. I do so hate asking permission to use a radio. But, that's life. I want something small, hand held, for my get home bag...maybe two. I see the Chinese have a tiny little booger on the market.

  4. When turkey goes on sale here, I buy several. I thaw them all out later and keep separate a couple of pieces - half a breast and a leg, usually - and roast them with the fixings for a couple of meals and sandwiches. The rest I can for use throughout the year. Turkey is my favorite meat to can. So many uses.

    1. Yep, me too. Soup. After I bone the bird I'll brown the bones in the oven and make stock. If I feel real good I can the stock too.

  5. Every meal tastes better with cranberry sauce. Rye bread slathered with cranberry sauce and slices of turkey & lettuce makes a grand sandwich to go with homemade turkey soup! Going to take a trip into town tomorrow, stop at the A&P, and get me some turkey!
