Sunday

I've just built a pot of bean soup and placed it to simmer, Sweet Wife is on her way to church without me and Romney is giving a speech and we're back to Standard Time. Life continues.

Not much on my agenda today. Hopefully my dear wife, when she returns, will allow me to tinker on my current restoration project, but I dream. I'm sure she'll want me to accompany her on some day trip, probably we'll find ourselves lost in an area antique mall. Oh well, maybe I'll stumble across something Coleman or firearms related.

Rambling...

Today marks five months since I've seen my heart. Five months. Soon she'll be eight years old. Hard to believe. I wonder, how much has she grown. Is she happy. Is she loved.

We have received word she's a straight 'A' student within the public school system. When this bit news arrived I thought, 'What did they expect.'

Hey, maybe later.

Stephen

  1. Rest your heart, Stephen. Little Bit knows beyond any doubt that you and Sweet Wife love her.

And, being an A student, she understands what has happened. One day all will be back to normal.

Until then, have peace within, and patience. All will be, in God's time.

  3. Stephen,

A pot of bean soup, sounds good to me. What time's dinner? I'll make the corn bread :-)
I hope Sweet Wife takes you out shopping, I'm pretty sure you'll find something you like.

I can't believe it's been 5 months. This picture you posted of Lil Bit is beautiful. Of course she's a straight "A" student!

Both Dani and Rev. Paul are right, be at peace and have patience.

    1. Dinner, my dear, is in about an hour. We just walked into the house after a long day in St. Augustine. My feet hurt and I need to relax for a minute. If you plan on dinner with us, hurry.
Yes, five months. Seems like forever to me. Thank you, my dear lady.

  4. My lovely wife informs me I'll be taking her out to eat today. Our favorite restaruant has fine Sunday specials. It's also where I pick up most of my waste veggie oil for the van, so giving them a bit of business is not a bad thing.

I've a granddaughter who's going to school in RI at her father's. We miss her, but at least she visits every school vacation. Even being able to Skype her once in a while helps. We were cut off completely for a while, so this is better. Hope your situation improves soon.

    1. Mine made me drive her forty-two minutes one way just for lunch. Then, walk...and wait...and wait some more as she shopped. Ah, life.
Wish I could Skype. Whatever skype is...Thanks, my friend.

  7. mmmm....bean soup....what else did you put it in it? i need pics. i think it should be a rule that if anyone mentions that they are cooking something on their blog - then they MUST provide a pic of the finished product. any leftovers to mail to Canada?

ahhh....that Little Bit is so gorgeous. i understand how much you miss her. it will work out, as easy as that is to say and as lame as that is to be on the receiving end of it. much love to you, SW and your heart.

    your friend,

    1. kymber, due to time limitations I only put onions, bacon, salt and pepper and of course the baby lima beans. Normally I'd make a rue and ad finely diced bell peppers. I haven't yet decided if I'll make Spanish yellow rice or plain white. Tell will tell. Thanks, my friend...and pictures, we'll see.

  8. I never bastardize my bean soup with carrots (which seem to be the usual addition) but remain with onions, ham or bacon fat. If I'm feeling real exotic, I'll throw in a diced potato as filler. My cornbread always has added sugar or honey.

As for lil' bit, her young age bothers me, as children tend to get foggy with their memories. Short of shooting her father in a dark alley, the best we can hope for is to "accept, adapt, and overcome" at some point.

    1. Joy, I agree with you on the soup...a bit of Rue, maybe finely diced bell pepper, onions and bacon or ham are fine...all other additions bastardize an otherwise fine dish.
Little Bit's age bothers me too. The dark alley has been in my thoughts for months.

  9. Ah, Stephen.. How fast they grow! Don't worry, she will never, every forget you and Sweet Wife. To this day I have the memories spend with my grandmother when I was only four years old. No pictures of that time back then, but I can still recall happy days spent on her farm in N.H. Believe it or not, I still remember her blue dress with white polka dots. Little Bit has years and years of lovely, special times to remember. She will never forget. I can guarantee it!

  12. I'd like to make a pot of red beans, myself. Your mention of bean soup reminded me of it. It breaks my heart about LB. I pray things work out.

    1. Oh, my dear lady, red beans are as necessary to life as companionship. Thank you for your kind prayers. You need to write...take care.
