Guess What Walked In Today

He needed the cash and I wanted his Para .45. Simple, and a bargain to boot.

So, I made a personal purchase; I like paperless deals. She's a little Para P-12 .45, nothing special. She'll make a good little carry piece. Gives me an excuse to buy another holster - as if I need another.

I'm telling 'ya folks - people out there are hurting. I paid less than half book for this little girl. Felt sorry for the guy. But, business is business.

She will not become a safe queen. If you'll excuse me she needs a bath....

Stephen

    1. Bubba, we had over four inches today. It's nice because we need it. Thanks, my friend.

  2. Sweet! My Colt .357 has gained a lot of weight through the years and gotten too bulky to carry. I finally bought a 9mm Sig Sauer. BUT, please advise women when shopping for a semi-automatic, to see if they can 'cock' it. I tried many that were too hard to slide, and bought the easiest one for my smaller hands to operate. (something to consider)

    1. Good advice, I'll be sure and pass along the word. Most of the women I know from around here love those little Ruger LCP's. Even my wife owns and carries one. Thanks, my sweet friend.

  3. Nice. I thought quality firearms held their value, but I supose anyone would take a bath on a quick sale.

    1. They do, Sixbears, but with this market and the added burden of desperation, bargains abound. I always allow the seller to set their price. Thanks, my friend.

    1. Yes, she is sweet. I need another handgun like a hole in my head but I can't walk away from a deal...and the man seemed to really need quick cash. Thanks, my friend.

  7. Visa vi what Sixbears was saying.

Quality items tend to be less volatile in price, but they are not immune to supply and demand. Although gun sales are up, the general population of owners is not up by nearly as much.

In pre-industrial societies, they would get inflation (even when precious metals were the currency). It tended to be concentrated in land, and food products (today we could probably add oil). Manufactured goods however, would not generally gain much value, and thus in relative terms would lose value.

    1. Yes, indeed, Russell. The late Peter Bernstein wrote such just before his death. Inflation and the current loss in our dollar's value eat away the value of our best tangible investments. Thanks, my friend.

  8. It's probably a good thing for my budget I don't live near your shop Stephen.

I've actually been considering something like that.

    1. She sure feels nice on my belt this morning. Went home last night and dug around my boxes and found a worthy holster. Loaded the baby with a fresh set of Fiocchi 230 grain FMJ and she now purrs like a kitten. Thanks, my good friend.

    1. As soon as possible. It'll probably be the middle of June before I get a chance to take it out for a run. Thanks, my friend.
