Followers, Why?

You know what I hate - followers that just disappear without reason. Why? What 'da heck did I write to get your panties in a wad.

Please let me know. Perhaps the reason you left will help me maintain my current readership.

Feel as if I've just gotten a butt load of buckshot.

Stephen

  1. Yup, I have that sometimes as well. Poof, just gone. I think it has to do with my winning personality and charming good looks, it scares them off.

  2. People come and go, often for no apparent reason(s). Don't lose any more sleep over it than you have to; your style doesn't seem to have changed.

    1. Trust me, my good friend, I'll not lose sleep over this, other things in life, yes, but not this silly stuff. Just bugs me as to why. Thanks, Rev. Paul.

  4. I wouldn't worry about them. You write from your heart, and you write well, not to mention your most important reader (LB) has yet to become a follower, and she will never unfollow you.

In looking at your last few posts, maybe you offended a crack whore or two?....lol

    1. It's possible I did offend one of the ladies, not sure. Thank you for the nice compliments and comment. You're a pretty darn good writer too, Sweet Lady.

  6. Stephen, write for you not for anyone else. This is your blog and if someone doesn't like what you have to say then the heck with them. You aren't going to make everyone happy.

I get negative comments sometimes, as well as people that have left. So be it. I post what I feel like posting. :)

GBBL, you get used to it. I'm hear to tell ya. You should know this by now. :)

      TO Stephen, phooey on 'em.

    3. Yep, Pissed is right. People have their own issues as to why they like or don't like or stop liking a blog, but one of the best things about you is that you are authentically you. I don't worry if I lose a reader, but I would worry if I started to become something I wasn't keep one.

    4. agrilandhergun, thanks, dear lady. I don't worry, like I mentioned I just wonder why...

  8. I, personally, like to join several (like in the dozens) of blogs at once and then view them over the course of a few weeks, I then "weed out" those blogs that just don't "fit" me. Nothing personal to them, they just end up being mostly about things that do not keep my interest.

So it is most likely nothing personal to you at all. Just think of it as winnowing the wheat -you get to keep all the "good followers". lol!

  10. Another POV: Consider that it has nothing to do with you or what you're writing. Spring has sprung, and most of us Blogland Readers are occupied with other things -- gardens, outdoor stuff, graduations, weddings, plus the usual busy-ness of life. For myself, I regret the recent lack of time to keep up with my favorite writers -- including you -- but I wish you well AND healthy, and look forward to seeing what's on your mind when I come to a full stop!

    1. Christy, I look forward, too, to what's on my mind. It's scary lately. Thank you so very much for reading my scribbles. Take care and enjoy the garden. Wish I had one too.

Stephen ... Maybe they just read and not respond?
I can't tell you how many I read every day and not write something, doesn't mean that I don't enjoy them. I like all sorts of blogs: funny 'guy' only stuff, guns, homesteading, prepping, Harleys, chickens, news & anything that strikes my fancy. I'm old & got a lot of catching up to do since I retired. I didn't even know what a 'blog' was!!
Some people just don't want to seem pesty. I know I can be a real pain in the arse sometimes.
Don't worry about who goes; enjoy your friends - old and new!

  14. I've noticed that certain people follow me for a very narrow range of topics. If I haven't touched that topic in a while, some go away. I'm not going to change how I write because of it. I'm not a one dimensional person and my writing won't be either.

You might have the same thing happening to you.

    1. Very good point, my friend. Guess I don't write of guns and survival enough to suit others but like I've always said, I write about life, the way I live it as a chronicle for my grandchild. Thank you, my friend.

  18. They might have found the joy of the RSS reader like I have. That's how I follow you so your stats would show it but not your "followers". When I follow people that way it's only because I can't get a good RSS feed from them. When you follow a ridiculous number of blogs that's a much better way to do so.

  20. I think Kitchen Witch touched on exactly what I was going to say. Some people get all excited about things like blogging and then figure out it's kind of like work. I've had Blogger drop followers, then add them back as well. Add it to the mysteries of life.

  21. Sometimes people try to follow so many blogs they end up with 100 e-mails every day. If you get busy and miss a couple of days you have several hundred e-mails to go through. Sometimes people just have to weed through them and cut back. ( not that I think you need weeding ) :)

  23. Stephen, I'm still here, too! I come by most every day, but don't comment as much as I should. I don't "follow" either, I just check in on the blogs I like whenever I can.
Am super busy with farm/garden stuff this Spring. Have to water every day due to our drought (tho have had a little rain lately). You and your loved ones are in my prayers for all to work out the way you want them to.
    Blessings!
