How many of my five or so readers have ever read the works of the writer, Michael Wallace? The reason I ask is I received an email from Amazon this morning. It was a pitch to purchase this writer's 'Righteous' series of novels.
I'm not familiar with his work, and Amazon has the Kindle editions on sale today, and today only, for .99 cents. Fine, but I would hate to make a purchase and find his writing style not to my taste. Yes, I've read the Amazon description and it lacks in substance.
Thoughts? Thanks.
Stephen
Sorry not a big reader unless its aviation or war history. Like my post today I'm clueless.
ReplyDeleteRob, thanks, and hey, read a book. It'll do some good...haven't had a chance to check out your blog today but I will. My next chore is to climb onto my roof and blow out the gutters...my lips, I'm sure, will chapped when done.
DeleteStephen - i am not familiar with his work, nor this book - but i did a little searching - checkout the reviews here -
ReplyDeletei would have to say that based on the description of the plot and the reviews and comments - it's a book that i would definitely read! i am actually going to order it now!
your friend,
kymber
kymber, my sweet friend, my Kindle is in transit but I understand I can still download to it and the work will be ready to read when it arrives...ah, our modern age. Thanks.
Deletewoops - i didn't include the link:

I can't help you on this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks anyway, Bubba.
DeleteStephen- I have little down time to do some light reading, but I have not heard of him either. My wife who reads way more than I ever do, hasn't heard of him either. I am currently rereading "One Second After" though for a review on my blog site. Have you read it?
ReplyDeleteLOL , and I love it, "my five or so readers"...
DeleteYes, K, I've read 'One Second After,' twice. It's a very good book. It makes grown men think and women cry. You will like it. I look forward to your review, and thanks, I typed that line and came close to upping the count to ten...fudged the numbers, I did.
DeleteWhere is Russell when ya need him. Jeez that man has read every book ever printed I am sure he would know the author.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll bite. Russell who...? Here I am surrounded by thousands of books and not one by this author. Shame on me. Thanks, my friend.
Deletedear one, Russell is Russell1200 from "reflexiones finales".
Deleteand he has read every single book on the planet. 3 times each!
Damn, and I thought I'd read alot of books...thanks, kymber.
DeleteStephen - he really has read them all 3 times! Russell is one of my all-time heroes!
ReplyDeleteLOL - no I haven't. I haven't even read all the apocalyptic books once. And although I have about 70 apocalyptic reviews posted, it is only a fraction of the availble titles.
DeleteI have seen Mr. Wallace pop up as an associated read at Amazon, but have never read him. Sounds creepy.
You're a good man though my friend....thought kymber was fudging a bit...Mr. Wallace indeed sounds creepy and I've missed the deadline for a cheap download...oh well, and thanks.
DeleteDarn, no help from me here either. Sounds like you're going to be the test case and tell us all how awesome it is. For .99 I would consider it worth a try. For me, it's not the buck spent, it's that I have a serious problem with not being able to stop reading a book once started. It's a little bit of OCD and I hate to start a bad book and have to invest time to finish it. Honestly, I haven't read one bad enough to make me want to stop yet.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are much alike in I too hate to quit on a book, even when I know it's bad writing....thanks.
