A Must Read

Over at Brigid's she has posted a must read. If you have a female child living in your home, or as part of your family, and this doesn't convince you of the need to teach them the fundamentals of marksmanship and the need to carry a firearm, when they're of legal age, then I'm sorry, you're brain dead.

The title, Carrying A Firearm - What's It's Really About.

As is her way, Brigid has written an elegant piece. It's well worth the few minutes of time invested. Trust me.

And, here is my reason.

Do you get it....this is why I live. This is my heart. Do you think for a second I'd allow some beast to harm this child. Teach them guns are good. They protect them. I'll have this little girl field stripping an AR by the time she's eight.

  6. Good Call Stephen. Teach her not to be a victim and how to defend herself. One problem I had with Brigid's post however was the sentiment I brought away with me that she was saying carrying a gun made all places safe for women. I believe a little common sense to not get yourself into situations is just as important as a firearm. Handgun or no, there are places on this earth I would not venture into voluntarily why is it so many women seem to think the rules need to be different for them?

  7. PioneerPreppy, thanks, and you are so right. We must not only teach them the fundamentals of firearms but the mindset too. Common sense will take them a long way towards a long life.

  8. The wife promised me this weekend a new gun from Pueblo.

My stepdad (retired LEO) is coming to visit for a month in November. He's giving a proper firearm class to my wife. She said yes. However, she won't buy me an AK-47. So my own shotgun might be the thing this weekend (I am "storing" my stepdad's Remington 700)

My new job's temp office is in the local PD station (I'm the water/wastewater supervisor) and once I got to talking about a weapon to defend myself against the "zombies", he said he is putting in an order for AR-15s for the entire force and would ask the dealer to add one to the list for me to purchase. He smiled when I said for zombies, and said that they may be coming soon. Even the Chief of Police is a survivalist.
