Saturday Ramble

The price of friggin shrimp has spiked - even the frozen stuff is nine bucks a pound. I want to cook. Something with rice and bell peppers and onions and celery all mixed with a wonderful light brown rue.

Guess I'll settle for chicken...

As you're well aware it's Saturday and I really haven't the time to write. Couple of crows have landed just outside my office window. They cuss me.

Hey, I really need to run...later, but first,

tell me, and be serious - Crow and Creole?

  1. I'm not ready to eat crow . . . no matter how it's cooked. :)

I've been a bit leery about shrimp. Between the stuff imported from Asia and the mutant BP shrimp from the Gulf, it's tough to trust it.

Actually, the more you know about where you food comes from, the pickier you get.

    1. As to the shrimp quality we're lucky here to have our own supply of Mayport fresh shrimp caught just off our coast in the Atlantic and the St. John's River. Huge, sweet chunks of good.

      Thanks, Bro.

  2. No.

Unless you really need it. Fair game after that.

  3. What Max said. And we'll still eat Alaskan seafood; it's safe, for the most part. Salmon, halibut, prawns ... it's all good.

And the locally-prepared gumbo is awesome. Spicy enough to make your eyes water (I love it!) and filling ... oh, my.

You know what? Never mind the crow. We'll have caribou sausage for lunch today. :)

  6. all food has gone up and I really think the farmers around here have plotted to keep all our little home gardens well dusted with something that won't allow them to grow.

    1. When it's time for us to take in provisions we take a second on our mortgage...spend it in one trip to the store.

      Thanks, Sweet Kellie.

  7. Catch you some mud puppies. Just use the tails instead of shrimp.
