It Was a Long Night

Without sleep. I've taken a rare day off. The guilt of it weighs heavily upon me. How government leeches and parasites live their lives firmly attached is beyond me.

She just stepped from the shower and yelled, "Well, let's at least make a run to Costco."

Replied, "Yes, Dear."

She further explained we need to shop for new family room chairs, big ones with ottomans - leather. I explained we're deep into a depression and cannot afford them.

She flicked my ear.

So now you know.

  1. Charlton Heston once said, "The three most important words for any husband to learn are "You were right"."

    He was right.

    1. I miss Heston. It's taken me years but I finally learned never to argue with her....it hurts too much.

  2. A governmental depression is one thing. A wife's depression is another. You made the right choice grasshopper. How many chairs do you now own?

    1. Many, in answer. She wanted to replace a large leather couch we now have in our family room with the two new, very large, leather chairs. They will be delivered next Saturday. She will, of course, supervise the installation of said new expensive chairs. I use a 1930's mahogany chair, an antique of grace and beauty. It too will be banned to a life of dust gathering, or sold. She hasn't decided. I lost the fight to have my new chair covered in camouflage. My request earned me another ear flick.

    1. It wasn't much fun. We drove hundreds of miles to many different furniture companies. Never made it to Costco. She was on a mission.

  4. And now we know who is really to blame for Liberals and Feminist taking over the country.

    Whipped Navy dudes.

    Yes dear...

On our way home from town this morning I slipped to the side of the highway a bit and got the edge of the vibrating pavement which made the brrrraaaap sound. The wife began screaming "slow down, watch the road"...

I calmly looked over at her and veered right over onto the section again.

Blissful silence all the way home :)

    1. Yep, I admit it. I whipped. She has a mean left hook for such a little woman. Might I suggest you slumber with one eye open...

  6. +1 to Lotta Joy. Even if Sweet Wife was using her womanly wiles on you.

Like that'd be a bad thing, anyway ...

  7. Stephen,

The correct answer to Sweet Wife is "Yes Dear".

I hope Sweet Wife found some nice chairs and ottomans?

    1. She did, but instead of ottomans she found her leather chairs, big suckers, that recline by the use of electrical motors. It's been years since we've shopped for furniture. Our home is filled with antiques (I was once in the business) and the prices shocked us. I mean, give me a break. Hey, want a nice excellent condition leather couch?

    2. I would love one but I'm to far to get it.
Our couch has had it, it's time to trash it.

  8. Ottomans and chairs are more important than holding on to your money for "just in case". It's a rule written down in the marriage manual, just after the chapter about sex, harmony and what it actually costs.

Oh well, you can't take it with you when you go...and hopefully that's not because you didn't have enough money for food.
