Debris

Now covers our yard. Last evenings storm left us a mess. At least our power held as many in the city are without, at least those that haven't the sense to purchase a good back-up generator.

This morning, just before I hit the road, I snapped a quick photo of a few downed limbs. The limbs are much larger than they appear.  Since I'm such a frail weak old man I need a good crew to help in the clean-up.

I shall assign each of you a work detail. You will assemble on my yard at 1800 hours. Don't be late. Refreshments provided.

That is all.

Stephen

  3. We are not that good of friends, and I dislike any kind of yard work. Sorry.

  4. Yard work has never bothered me, and a favor for a friend is not work. :) But the 12 hours' travel time disqualifies me from trying to attend.

    1. All these excuses....but, who knows, maybe a crowd awaits me. Thanks anyway, my good friend.

  5. Well, I'm three hours away, but have no idea where you live. Are those pine trees? Pine trees in Hernando are all accompanied by scorpions. It that true in your neck of the woods?

I thought you'd get more volunteers than excuses...but my excuse is just as good as theirs.

The reason we left our fantastic generator at home when we moved is there is NO private storage here, and a generator in the driveway is not allowed. A generator in the yard would be stolen by 2am.

    1. Scorpions are fine eating, once fried.

      Excuse accepted...

You still need a generator. Some, at 5500 watts, will power several circuits in your home and fit into your garage.

    1. Sure...for a retired guy that has all day to work in the yard. I know you'd help but just finished. Worked during this current storm...wet as a rat in a Paris sewer drain.

  10. We had a big one come through as well. Today it is just like fall here, with the air dry and a cool breeze blowing.

  11. Stephen,

Long drive to where you live from Oklahoma, I'm afraid even the gas would cost a lot of money. I'm with you in spirit my friend.

  12. We just had the mother of all thunderstorms at 5pm here. Now, my dog is afraid of storms. I guess it got to him because we weren't home when it hit.

    1. Same here...still with the rain. I came in after the yard work and was soaking wet...wife made me strip in the garage. Forgot to lower the door. Neighbors set out lawn chairs and cheered. I should charge admission.

  13. We're playing clean up here too, picking up all the cars that didn't handle the storm well. I'd much rather be doing yardwork :D

    1. I'm so sick of yard work. Everyday is the same here...heat builds which by late afternoon feeds deep dark storms which blow in off the river and slam my trees and house. Result - mess. Thanks, lovely lady...nice to hear from you.

  14. Dang.
    Sorry I missed the call-to-arms...
My place out at the beach took a little damage, according to my Better Half.
Alas, I am down south, enjoying adult beverages and fine seafood for a couple days.
Let me know if you need more help next week- I'll be back- tanned, rested and ready.
