I Promise

As soon as my body temperature returns to normal, and after I build a pot of chicken and dumplings, I'll write something of interest...or at least try with the good Lord's help.

The chicken dish should only take a couple of hours. I make mine from scratch.

I've been working in our yard all morning - felt good, other than the humidity and sweat soaked shirt. Still, it was nice to retake my domain from others, if you get my drift.

I'm also very ticked. For several hours last evening I tried in vain to replace the water hoses on our Maytag piece of crap washing machine. A job I've done with ease many times in my life. Seems these newer machines require the assistance of Maytag repairmen.

By the way, always and I mean, always replace those black rubber hoses with lifetime braided lines. Trust me on this....and, never purchase a Maytag. Pieces of junk.

Later.

Stephen

  1. dear sweet one - i have never had chicken and dumplings, i think it must be a southern thing. we do put "dough boys" in our stews and soups and i think that based on recipes i have read that they are the same thing as dumplings. can you post a pic of your finished product and then give out your recipe? unless it is a family secret that you have to kill for, of course. but i would love to try a chicken and dumplings recipe that i could trust.

    your friend,
    kymber

    1. It's easy....take two cups of all purpose flour, one heaping tablespoon of baking soda, a cup and a half of half and half...gently stir. Set aside to rest. Then take a tablespoon and scoop and drop into the stew...thirty minutes later, heaven on earth.

    Worth the money.

  4. The best washers were the old white round, tall tub ones with the double wringers on it. They only had two speeds: slow and fast. Wish I could find one

  5. I was going to comment on the washer but all I can think about is the chicken and dumplings. My mouth is watering.

Unfortunately I have no knowledge of how to make a good chicken and dumplings otherwise I'd make some right now.

    1. It's really easy, Dean. Set aside a weekend and give it a try...and don't use one of those 'add a can of soup' to the pot recipes. Buy a whole chicken and dive in, it's fun. Thanks.

  6. One of my best buddies owns an appliance store, and is a licensed repairman for most of the major brands. He swears the only good ones are from Samsung; he hardly ever gets a repair call on those. He also says Maytag & LG are the worst of the lot.

The food sounds wonderful, though. Now I'm hungry.

  7. My Maytag was the worse POS I ever owned. Leaked oil all over the floor. The repairman they sent over wasn't any good either. Glad to have gotten rid of both.

    1. I purchased my first Maytag over thirty years ago...it served me well for over twenty. Now, junk. I'm gone. Thanks, Bro.

  8. I'm originally from PA and we had chicken and dumplings and potato soup with rivels too. Yum.

Geez Stephen wish you would have said something sooner about the Maytags. We just bought a 1938 model ;). The Amish are fixing it. Can't wait to get it back and try it out. Maytag actually still makes the parts for the old wringer washers. Hard to believe I know. Older is actually better. I keep telling my hubby that too LOL.

    1. The older American made Maytag machine was a fine piece of equipment. These new ones, not so much...

You know, wringer washers are still made (not by Maytag) and some with gasoline engines for third world application.

      Thanks, Pretty Lady.
