I Have

A blackberry patch, and the berries are ripe. Deep black juicy tiny bits of goodness which offers your tongue a baptism of juice when eaten fresh from the vine.

My patch is located at the rear of my shop and takes space along the fence and many of the berries are red with future goodness.

Isn't it strange where we find our little pleasures in life...

For instance the news has arrived that my best friend, my long time pal, blood brother in crime and travel and hobbies, Duke, has squeezed several gallons of fresh Florida citrus. There isn't a doubt in my mind his juice and my blackberries would offer a wonderful combination treat.

With this fact in mind rush forth and bug the heck out of him until he hand delivers at least two gallons of nectar.

I shall await results.

Stephen

  1. You have no shame but it won't work, I am immune to your tactics.

  2. You do realize you are driving those of us in the frostlands crazy? My blackberry bushes still have snow around them.

    1. Ah, but isn't the anticipation wonderful. Soon even the frozen north shall thaw. Thanks, Sixbears, and take care. Frost bite, I understand, hurts.

    1. Pretty Kelly, drive on down and pick to your hearts delight. See, unlike Duke, I share. Don't forget, run over and tell him I need juice.

  4. Stephen,

Nice, blackberries and fresh squeezed orange juice. I think I know exactly where to go to get my next harvest of fruit :-) now that you have provided a location of your berries and where the fresh juice is located.
    Enjoy those berries!!

  5. I just started my blackberry patch this past winter... so I have an entire year to wait before I'll be able to reap the rewards of that labor.

    1. Paladin, I let the berries at the shop run freely...here at home I must dig them out each year. This place is covered in them. Thanks, my friend.

  6. dear sweet one - those blackberries are divine. we have tons of them on our land and all around our dirt road and we picked about 7lbs last year. also blueberries and raspberries. we freeze a ton to be able to have through the winter. but you are soooo right - there is nothing like standing in a patch and eating them right off the bush until your fingers and tongue are stained and your belly is full.

i wonder if i could get sweet Duke to drive up here with some of that juice? teehee.

    your friend,
    kymber

    1. Way back, eons ago, when I lived out west we'd drive into the lower mountains and pick thumb sized blackberries, gallons and gallons of pure black gold. I'd love a cobbler...now. Thanks, sweet kymber and it's nice to hear from you.

  7. My plants are still flowering, but when they come in. . .Oh boy. Mine are of the thornless variety. After kids get their share, I usually have enough for pie or cobbler. Enjoy your berries. Maybe if you offered Duke a cobbler he would come off the wonderful juice. You guys behave.

  8. Hey Stephen! Those black berries have me thinking cobbler. I saw your post about the fish. I don't have a recipe like that. We like to fry fish and serve with cocktail sauce which we sometimes call "red sauce," but I don't think that's what you had in mind. If you find a yummy one, though, please share. ; )

    1. Lovely Lady, I did find a recipe and then quickly discarded same and just winged it. When I have the time I'll try and describe my method...and by the way, the dish was a hit. Thank you, my lovely friend.
