Good Morning

I stepped outside this morning to the scent of oak mast and salt marsh. It was windy and cool and the river held a slight chop of whitecaps. Nice change from wet and warm.

With my first cup of coffee came a knock on my shop door and there stood my small lovely friend, DFW. She was on her way to work and stopped bearing a gift of her homemade yogurt. The little jar of white and gold sweetness now sits and waits for my lunch.  Thanks, my lovely friend.

*****

My second shipment of precious metals arrived yesterday. Four days after the shipping number indicated its arrival. I'll never again trust this particular dealer.

Truthfully I'm not sure whom to blame - the postal service or the dealer. But then I've never trusted the postal service.

So there.

*****

I've made a promise, to myself. I will finish my taxes. The thought of it is akin to wearing a kilt as a rider in a bronco busting contest.

My main concern is after it's all said and done, and the check is written and sent, my dollars will fund our so called government. It's theft, pure and simple.

I should just keep my mouth shut. It was recently brought to my attention by a fellow blogger I had a hit of several minutes from the Florida Supreme Court. The reader has returned on several occasions. I do appreciate their attention and hope the reader enjoyed his or her stay but the very thought of 'them' lurking about my blog is very disquieting.

Government is government is government, as Gertrude Stein would say.

Later.

Stephen

  1. I don't know where it happened but Papa Bear just told me a woman had all of her guns taken because she went to a county meeting about the huge increase in property taxes. She brought out her pocket Constitution and started reading. The commissioners said she was disrupting the meeting and to leave. When she got home the cops were waiting for her and took all of her firearms. They said she threatened to bring a gun back to thee meeting. She said she never did anything of the sort.

It's getting to the point where we are going to have to be more careful with what we write or say...Even around some family members.

    2. Thanks Matt...I guess we will have to watch for trumped up charges as well. Hopefully some witnesses will come forward to defend her.

I was supposed to go to a meeting at our local PO this afternoon. They are considering closing it or cutting back hours. Now I am hesitant on attending any government run meeting.

  2. Hmm at first I thought that the Supreme court person was doing what I do-- enjoying your blog. Then I read the first comment-- now I'm not so sure.

    1. Kristine, I try and fly under the radar...it's hard and truthfully none of us can hide, but why make a target of yourself. Thanks, dear friend.

  3. I don't sweat the government hits too much. I know a couple government employees that have intentionally bought some land close to the Small-Hold for the same reasons most of us are preppers. I figure government computers are the ones least used for actual work anyway lol.

Still it hasn't been tested either no telling how much info government types may be willing to give out to their bosses when the time does come. Always better to be safe.

  4. If I may be so ignorant - how can you tell if they are visiting? I've checked my stats and sitemeter but that doesn't give me enough information. In any case, I am just curious. I refuse to live in fear. I have to believe that the good people outweigh the bad in this country. So far.

    Blessings,

    1. Bring the Sitemeter back on line and check for .gov's. The agency will be listed near the bottom. I get many from the US Forestry Service and NOAA. Military will be .mil, listed by service, i.e., Army, Navy, etc. I've had hits from all...no big deal. Thanks, dear lady.
