It's a sad state of affairs when a man finds himself sorting ammunition at two in the morning. Just a few minutes ago I stood from where I'd been bent over an old ammo box, my hands filthy black. I moaned and glanced at the clock and asked it why in the name of all that's holy could I not sleep, perchance to dream.
It only replied, tick, tick, and tick.
Even the owls remain silent.

I feel your pain brother, since turning fifty-ish,(five years ago,) I started suffering this very malady...
ReplyDeleteTom, it sure gets old. Thanks for the comment and please, don't be a stranger. Take care.
Deletedear sweet one - i sure do hope that you are finally in bed. it's 4am here and i am unable to sleep as well. by the time i will be able to go back, jambaloney will be up and full of p*ss and vinegar...i hate it when this happens. hopefully you are snoring away as i type this!
ReplyDeleteyour friend,

Nope, still here. Sad, isn't it. Go to bed, Sweet Lady.
DeleteKind of ironic, husband and I are sitting watching a movie at 0130, sorting brass, pulling out primers, and putting into tumbler to clean.
ReplyDeleteNice clean fun...I like it. I just made coffee, 0339 here. Take care, my friends.
DeleteHate when I can't sleep - the older I get the more it happens....(sigh)
ReplyDeletePhyllis (N/W Jersey)
Seems to be my case too, Sweet Phyllis. Sad, isn't it. Thanks.
DeleteWelcome to getting old... sigh...
ReplyDeleteSadly, I passed the 'getting' stage a while back. It's all mist ahead. Thanks, my good friend.
DeleteHate those nights.
ReplyDeleteMe too, and they roll around all to frequently. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteI am also a member of this club. Sad to say.
ReplyDeleteThere must be a cure that doesn't require a prescription...thanks, my dear.
DeleteMe, too. Some nights I sleep like a log; others ..? Not so much.
ReplyDeleteOn those 'not so much' nights, I roam...which isn't good. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteI do the weirdest things in the wee morning hours when all I can hear in the house is Stud and Beau snoring. But I've never counted ammo.
ReplyDeleteJoy, you should give it a try sometime. The hours pass like a blur. Thanks, my dear lady.
