Cast Iron

If you like cast iron skillets, as I do, try this site. When you arrive at the site you'll notice a side bar on the left, hit the 'links' button and enjoy.

I do like my old cast iron. When it's filled with fried bacon I love it....

  1. They are most excellent. I dug out my huge one the other day to make spaghetti sauce in.

  2. I've got quite a collection of cast myself. Use it every day. Tiny to huge frying pans, everything in between, plus a couple Dutch ovens.

  4. My famous pancakes turn out best on an old iron griddle. And fried chicken MUST be cooked in a deep cast iron fry pan or even better a cast iron chicken frier pan.

  5. I remember my dad stoking the fire in the furnace and throwing in a new cast iron skillet to cure.

I haven't found one since that didn't rust. Is that normal?

    1. You've got to season it, my dear. Coat it with Pam or a good lard product. Season after each use, just wipe it down. Never use detergents when you wash your cast iron. Hot water will suffice. Thanks, my dear lady. Oh, almost all cast iron will rust a tiny bit, it will not hurt your food.

  7. I love my cast iron cookware. It works great for all sorts of things including baking bread in the grill when it gets too hot to cook indoors.
