Sunday, Late

I just came inside after giving my one new citrus a drink of water. Our one find was a nice four foot Kumquat, and a Brown Turkey fig. It appears I need to travel further and hit some nurseries outside our area.

I walked into our kitchen's dining room and found this:

I asked Sweet Wife why....she said Little Bit had just settled in to draw and paint when her father arrived to take her home. She instructed her Nana to 'leave it alone.' It will remain untouched.

Time for a nap. Before I leave you, guess what I had for a late lunch...

Later.

  1. Dad his this little painted and fired clay squirrel on his desk. It looks more like zombie squirrel, somewhat mishapen, leaning to one side, with an expression that looks like it wants to chomp on you, rather than happily look for a nut. It's poorly painted as well. I made it in first grade. It sat on his desk for years. It still does. I noticed.

She will appreciate you leaving her masterpiece out.

  2. Brigid, Sweet Lady, we Dads are like that, sentimental in our later years...we save all manner of little things left behind by our children. Most all art work holds a special place for us. I have a file folder (the real kind, made from paper, remember those) filled with Little Bit's school work; her Christmas projects, cards she has made for us, tidbits of her life. I hope some day she'll appreciate my efforts. BTW, I've noticed of late your writing has taken on a special quality. You seem to have been sprinkled with Grace. Thank you for the kind comment.

  3. Cover the Kumquat before freezes, it will die otherwise. I know I killed mine. Figs should be fairly hardy unless they bud early, in which case protect them also...I'm glad she told you she would come back to finish, these times are so special to her. She seems to be so sincere in her thoughts. Little Bit will cherish everything you have that she gave you, made for you and anything to remember that gave her chill bumps. When the chill bumps come later in her life she will not be able to contain her tears!... Now, what is that lunch?

  4. KingTOak, thank you. I'll take care of the tree, and thanks for the nice compliments about Little Bit. Lunch, Outback. Steak. Good.

  5. LB is such a joy to read about. Bet you can't until she comes back to finish the project.

    Dinner looks darn good.
