Well, well, well

Seems my plans of continuous six day work weeks has been shot all to heck and gone. I worked hard yesterday, my one day off, out in the yard. The grass is mowed, the leaves and tree debris are history.

When Sweet Wife had her back turned I grabbed my ladder and blower and hit our roof. Even cleaned the gutters. But, the oak and pine pollen and leaf mast took their toll on me.

I'm home sick. The 'ole throat is raw. Sinus drip like you wouldn't believe. Headache, yes indeed.

It's official, Spring has returned to North Florida. I just checked and the temperature is currently seventy-five degrees.

Now, if you'll be so gracious and kind to excuse me I think I'll jerk another cup of coffee, nurse my sore throat and read until I fall asleep.

I had a long piece in mind and had planned to write it today, maybe later.

In the meantime, please, explore the fine writers listed on my sidebar. They're great people.

  1. Stephen,

If you can take over the counter stuff, try CVS's chest congestion relief expectorant with guaifenesin. It helps for nasal drip in the throat which in turn helps get rid of sore throat. Make sure you can take with your current sripts.

    1. Trust me, the weather isn't all that great. Everything, and I mean, everything is green with pollen. We've had our six days of winter and from this day forward our weather will continue to show higher temps. It gets old. Thanks, Sweet Kelly.

  3. Hot lemon tea with honey always soothes my throat when it's sore. The heat helps with any sinus pressure, too.

    1. I'll try it. At this point in the game I'd be willing to try dried cow patties with Wild Turkey. Thanks, Lovely Lady.

    2. Nothing says you can't add whiskey to that. Who knows? It might help, can't hurt, and will at least make you care a bit less about being uncomfortable.

  4. I remember springtimes like that - hot and getting hotter - but am content to allow them to remain memories. It's 23 here today, with fresh snow. :)

  10. Stud was on the ladder blowing all sorts of things out of the gutters which, in turn, came in through the open windows. Then I had to mop. Florida has a way of turning one day of cleaning into two people doing the same dirty job inside AND outside at the same time. IF you're catching that horrid cold that I caught, be advised there's an 18 day wait before you can use your sinus' for something other than a concrete mixer.

  11. "When she turned her back . . ."

You fellas give us heart attacks with your derring-do on those roof tops.

I look away when my neighbor across the street goes up on his two story roof. Walks around like a billy goat.

    Look Ma! No hands.

I make myself look every 5 minutes in case I have to dial 911.

I sure hope you're feeling better. I hate colds.

    1. It's when you slip and land on your butt and you know they didn't see the fall you know you've gotten away with something wonderful....

I do feel better, thank you, Sweet Cathy.
