Really

Not sure about this configuration....it's a 38/357.

I suppose with the added suppressor and sub-sonic loads it'd make a fine crittergetter. Just not to my taste.

  1. Tacticool lever-gun *shutter* I suppose we have to thank the lack of premade abs furniture for it not being totally pimped out.

  2. That's what you call a low tech assault rifle. Looks like it has some funky rear site as well. I think that needs to be on the next 'ban list'
    (evil lever action rifles)

  3. Odysseus, I'm surprised the owner didn't add a rail...

Duke, does seem kinda silly, doesn't it. Don't give the buttholes in Washington any ideas, they just might try and ban it....

  4. Is that in your possession? Is it legal to have it ( with that suppressor ) without a permit?

  5. Sorta looks like a "red dot" site back there on the rear.

  6. Matt, no, it's not in my possession. And, no, it's not legal without a registration from the BATFE and it's two hundred dollar tax stamp. Now, if you'd like to build your own, go ahead, just stamp your personal serial number into the suppressor and then have it registered by same agency. Call them first. Same rates apply. Fore and aft, meaning when you buy and sell.

  7. i am no expert, but that just looks a little weird!

  8. jambaloney, it is weird. I can understand there might be certain occasions when a suppressor is necessary, but if that circumstance ever presents itself I feel a better platforms exist on which to mount it; just consider the weight and length of this system. It's silly. I'd suppress a standard single shot Winchester .22 over a .38 lever action rifle.

  9. And, please understand I whupped tonight and drop the 'a' between better and platforms...thanks. I really should edit my replies.

  10. I remember something about that caliber or more to the point I am not remembering something I recently read, but it is right at the tip of my brain. Oh well I will just speculate.

Since it would be chambered to fire the higher pressure .357 rounds wouldn't a silencer on it and using low end .38's at the slower pistol round velocities make it (foot)pound for (foot)pound a better overall weapon to silence than a .22? It would hit a ton at short or mid ranges and be easier on the silencer especially with the rifle length barrel.

Just rambling really but I know I just read something about that caliber recently that seems important to this discussion. Damn now I need to go find the info again.

  11. Well, I guess you wouldn't scare off the varmints your shooting at, with that suppressor.

  12. PioneerPreppy, it isn't the caliber I have a problem with, it's the system or configuration for which I don't care. Never underestimate the stopping power of the .22 caliber. I've dropped many deer, once two at one time with two shots, in their noggins, with an old Marlin .22. A suppressed .22 system is versatile, not only for its weight and balance but the aforementioned killing ability. The lever action rifle shown chambered in .38 is fine for which its intended, but slap a big 'ole suppressor on it, well, not so much. Thank you for the comment.

    Flier389, yes indeed.

  14. The fun bit is that buckhorn sights were the red dot of the day. Meant for getting a "snap" sight picture.
