My reading habits seem to be stuck in a rut. The next few evenings will be spent with Simon Garfield's, 'We Are At War.'
I need to ask our friend, drjim, to please identify the 'wireless' in the upper hand left corner of this dust jacket.
Stephen
Let us know a) any lessons learned from those "five ordinary people", and b) what drjim says about the wireless set.
ReplyDeleteRev., (a) war is hell. (b) he hasn't a clue. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteIt's not a Philco, RCA, or Zenith. I'm by no means an expert in identifying these from pictures, but I could probably repair one if I had to.
ReplyDeleteYou might find it pictured here:

But I don't have the time right now to search through all 1000+ pictures!
drjim, they didn't have a Sobell listed. Thanks for the link.
DeleteI've never heard of a Sobell.
DeleteHow'd you find out what it was?
Sobell was the predominate radio of Great Britain, kinda like Zenith here. Pictures, https://www.google.com/search?q=picture+of+Sobell+radio&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tMqLUcFNkO70BLu0gcgN&ved=0CC0QsAQ&biw=1024&bih=640
DeleteI took an educated guess.
Ahhhhh....I didn't consider British radios.
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense, though, considering they're all holding gas masks....
My fault. I should have mentioned the book was British and published in England.
