In my quiet moments I've been watching season one of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix.
I really like this show. Now, I really want a Harley.
Sweet Wife has given me permission (chuckle) to buy one. First though, I shall enroll in the basic riders course at one of our local Harley Davidson dealerships, this weekend.
It's been well over thirty years since I've had a bike between my legs, so I think of myself as a beginner. Better safe than sorry. Once I finish the course the State, in its nanny glory, will deem me worthy and allow me a motorcycle endorsement upon my drivers license.
Hope I don't make a fool of myself and fall down and go boom....
Stephen
Yeah!!! You'll get plenty of practice riding up here to beautiful Joisey ... I'm polishing my helmet already!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can ride the backroads (hate interstates) and you're ready when I reach your front door, we'll get into the wind, Phyllis. Wear chaps. Girls should always wear chaps....guys, not so much.
DeleteLeather jacket - check. Leather chaps - check.
DeleteBoots - check. I'm ready!
(The only man that can wear chaps and look good is Sam Elliot)
Check out the Harley Switch back. That's the one I'm drooling over right now. It is a sweet ride. Also, my wife can get on it also. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my motorcycle license, just in case. Once in a while I get a chance to tool around on someone else's bike.
DeleteI checked out the Swithback, Flier, and I like it too. Not any used ones down here...thanks.
DeleteSixbears, I agree. Once you've gotten the endorsement why like it expire. Thanks, my friend.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....don't believe any of that crap on tv....sons of (cough cough) bullshit....
ReplyDeleteI have actually had people ask me if that is really how "it is" in a motorcycle club....crazy....
(oh what the hell....I watch it too)
THE SWITCH BACK IS AWESOME!!!!
You mean to tell me Hollywood makes movies and shows that don't reflect real life...
DeleteNow, I'm so disillusioned. Thanks, my friend. BTW, what's the name of your club?
I am looking forward to getting back on a bike. Though it will be a year before I can. Could luck!
ReplyDeleteThank, pretty one. I hope you feel better and heal quickly. Luck to you too.
DeleteYou go! I remember when I was thinking about getting a motorcycle. Women in my life conspired against me at that time. :)
ReplyDeleteBubba, my wife has ordered a coffin and made funeral arraignments. Thanks.
DeleteI'm in the midst of a little two-wheel jaunt right now...
ReplyDeleteThursday - Jax to Biloxi
Today - Biloxi to Lorman MS to Shreveport LA
Tomorrow, Dallas... And dinner with the folks going to DABII on Sunday
Sunday - DABII, converting Money into noise...
Hopefully I'll get back to Jax by Tues PM...
Let me know when you want to ride...
(Alas, I'm a Sport/Tour guy... I can't afford to put a HD mechanic's kid through college, so I'll stick with my FJR1300.)
TBG
That's quite a ride, Big Fella...have fun. Give me time to find a bike and practice and we'll get together with Duke and have at it...thanks.
DeleteRemember to put your feet down when you stop!! Seen a few hit the ground because they forgot! We had to give them a little hell for awhile. We have a 97 heritage soft tail and a 2006 ultra classic. I prefer the soft tail.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's how its done...darn. I too like the soft-tails...thanks, my friend.
DeleteGood for you. I took the basic rider course a few years ago when I bought my Electra Glide. It was worth it. I'd been riding for an untold number of years without a license, and I learned some good stuff. With all the crazies driving cages you have to do what you can to protect yourself.
ReplyDeleteSteve
Thank you, Steve, and welcome. I want a smaller bike, like the Switchback mentioned above...you're correct, lots of nuts out there to watch. Don't be a stranger.
DeleteI really need to get my FXR back on the road...
ReplyDeleteYes you do...it's a beautiful bike. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteMy husband sat in when I took the rider's course and he actually learned something, so even if you end up not riding much, it's well worth the time.
ReplyDeleteWe don't own a motorcycle anymore, but I still use what I learned in that class.
Good luck!
Thanks, Pretty Girl...I think, believe it or not, my Sweet Wife wants to take the course too. We'll see. Welcome, and please don't be a stranger. God bless.
DeleteI'm so proud of you for taking that course!!! As I age, I keep thinking I'm as good as I once was, but even getting on a bicycle last year landed me on the couch for a week with a hurt knee. I'm not even as good once, as I ever was.
ReplyDeleteKinda nervous over the idea, but I think it'll be fun. I hate making a fool of myself in front of a crowd...but what 'da heck. I'll enjoy it. Thanks, Sweet One.
DeleteDo it. Best decision I ever made. My wife and I both ride and we know folks in "club". And we are hooked on SOA. And no, club life is not like the show. Don't let the morons get to you over assless chaps. If they had an ass in them then they'd be pants. I get so tired of that one. Remember, shiny side goes UP.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dean. No, I'd never wear chaps...too gay.
