Recently someone asked me about cut shotgun shells. I've only now remembered I'd promised to find and post the video, and I always keep my promises. I like this 'Ole boys shotgun sling too.
Perhaps sometime in the future this little trick might come in handy.

Wow, pretty interesting. I had never heard of a "cut shell" before. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, kind sir...and thanks for the comment.
DeleteHey! That's good to know. I, too, have never heard of a 'cut shell'. Gonna have to make some inquiry's with my gun buddies to see if they've ever tried it. I have a sweet little 410 and I assume it would work with any shell?
ReplyDeleteYes, Sharon, it'll work with the .410 too...have fun.
DeleteLooks like he has one of those 'Duke slings' on his double.
ReplyDeleteYes it does indeed....wonder where a feller could get one of those slings.....
DeleteI tried this at the indoor range I go to, and it appears to work. That is, the entire "slug" came out of the barrel in one piece, and punched a nice, round hole in the target at distances up to the 50' or so that the range has.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it at the outdoor range I go to, which has areas out to 600 yards. Next time my son and I go there, I'll try the cut-shell ammo at various ranges.
Then it worked...that's the purpose, to send a 'slug' downrange and punch nice wholes in critters...they will tumble too. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteIt does work, just make sure not to do anything silly like use a choke that is too tight. It's quite devastating when it hits.
ReplyDeleteVery true, 45er. A modified choke works very well. Notice that old boy used his left barrel...
DeleteI have heard of cut shells, but I had never seen how they work. .70 cal. I filing this one under "pay attention!"

ReplyDeleteGood. Thanks, my friend.
DeleteI think I'm in love...there's not a milk jug in town that has a chance now.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun, yes it is...but a great piece of knowledge to have when one is left to desperate times...
DeleteMany a moose has been killed up close with a cut shell here in Newfoundland
ReplyDeleteRegards
Dan
And, down here, many a deer. Not that we'd firehunt and cheat. Thanks, Bubba.
