If you consider yourself a member of the gun culture, blog about firearms, or are just a casual shooter then you should read this novel. If you haven't, well, shame on you.
dear friend, i ordered mine on book-bomb day but still await it's arrival! i can't wait for your review though as your review will come before the book - we are out in the bahoonies ya know!
kymber, are you referring to Survivors? If so I don't plan a review. My friend Arsenius is the book reviewer. I just read them...by the thousands. The book pictured should also be on your order list, if you can indeed find a copy. I believe it's out of print so you will need to search the used market. Early first editions sell well into the thousands. But, any so called writer of all things gunny that hasn't read this book isn't worth their weight in salt as far as I'm concerned.
Keads, as far as I know, yes. Many over at AR-15 actively seek the book. I would check out Abebooks.com and other used resources for a copy. It's worth effort. Then, lock it away or insure the sucker, the first editions are worth their weight in gold.
Robert, it'll do that to certain people. I'm afraid I was already a gun nut by the age of six, mostly due to my father's influence. I guess that's why the novel gripped me from the beginning. I forgot to mention in my post it's history based fiction. Most of the characters are real people or based on live individuals. Of course you know this having read the book. I cannot understand why so many haven't read it. Thanks.
One of the most irritating things I have ever done is borrow that book. I read a friend's copy years ago instead of being my OCD self and buying the book. Stupid regret. However, yes, it is so worth the read even if it means borrowing. If you can find it to buy cheap, do it. Used, they're only $90 or new for $200. Yikes.
45er, a first edition in perfect condition recently sold for well over a grand. Mine, is well used and marked. I should kick my own butt. But, at least I own a copy. Find one...not sure the government would allow him to print it again. The ATF hates John's guts.

On my list. But I've pledged not to buy any more books until I get through what I already have laying around.
ReplyDeleteProudHillbilly, I understand what you mean. I reading list is a mile long, and growing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat book is out of print right? Love to read it if I could find a copy.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not for the simple minded, that lets me out! ;-)

ReplyDeleteArsenius, you my friend need not worry. Thanks.
Unintended Consequences changed me from a casual gun owner and shooter to a total gun nut.
