Is it just me or has Blogger been acting awful weird the last few days. Slow loading (and I have business broadband, zippy jackrabbit fast) sites unavailable and such...?
Yes. Orange Jeep Dad had a blog up on Facebook yesterday in the morning, and Blogger finally had it midafternoon. It said Survivalblog had an update at 10 this morning, and was an error. But I wouldn’t worry. Obama’s new monitoring software only takes a few hours to upload to the Blogger site.
The only thing better than Unicorn meat is naugha meat. And their hides are so useful.
First of all it helps to have your own blog in your blog list to monitor when it comes up. That way you are not running up the counter on some one else's blog.
Secondly, make sure you are following your own blog and I'll explain that one next.
Thirdly, go to
http://www.google.com/reader/view/#overview-page
Since you are already signed into your own blog, going to this link should automatically log you into Google Reader.
Select you blog on the left side of the screen (that's the reason for following your own blog) and press the refresh button.
Now go to your list of blogs on your blog page, get into the edit screen and without changing anything, press the save button in the lower right of the box that pops up. Now go look at your UPDATED blog list and you should now see a link to your blog you just posted.
No, it's not automatic, but its actually quicker than before Google screwed everything up this past weekend.
Thank you, Matt. I've often wondered why writers followed their own blogs. As soon as I can get the 'follower' icon to show again I shall do as you suggested.
Writers following their own blog... I just always though it was vanity. I never followed my own until this weekend when I was trying to solve this issue and came up with the above procedure.
Stephen, I can see the followers on your blog, but I don't have the followers on my blog. Can you see my followers? There have definitely been some quirky happenings with blogger. He, he. At least for now, I can blame blogger, and not the fact that I'm new to blogging and really don't know all the techie stuff. I'm learning as I go :)
Rose, sparkles issued. My bog is taking a very long time to download my bloglist and follower icon. It takes time but it hits sooner or later. Will check you blog in a second, stand by.
I often have a hard time getting to my followers info. It just keeps kicking me back to Google login; over and over. Lately I've also had trouble making comments under my own identity. Sometimes I have to do as an anonymous reader. So yes, Bolgger is sucking hard lately. Keep up the good work-and thanks Matt, I picked up a couple of helpful hints.

P.S. I could use some sparkles.

ReplyDeleteRose, no I cannot see your followers either. You and I have the same problem.

ReplyDeleteStephen try a test post now and see if it works.
ReplyDeleteMatt, I'm able to post, certain elements of the page are very slow to load...like 'followers' and the bloglist.
ReplyDeleteI hear 'ya, Hillbilly.
Matt, it seems to be working better...if you've done something, thanks.
ReplyDeleteNa I wish I had that much control over Google... LoL They are updating things. That's why things have been so messed up and slow.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'll be patient. Wordpress doesn't appeal to me.
