Hurricane Irene sits just off shore this morning and she is making liars out of our weather forecasters; as if that's a new story.
Here is a shot from my truck as I was taking Little Bit to school. If you look closely at the horizon you will see the deep dark clouds. Those clouds are over the Atlantic and are just a few miles away.
Below is another view from Little Bit's school. Mere seconds after this picture was taken a series of wind gust exceeding 40 mph accompanied by waves of rain hit us.
Just before the principle of Little Bit's school opened my truck door she asked, "Papa, do I get to stay in my new school all year?"
"Yes, Honey, why?"
"Because I just love it, Papa."
I drove away with a smile on my face. Her attitude makes all our financial sacrifice seem puny in comparison.
Yes, I know her hair was a mess when this picture was taken. Her mom needs a good butt kicking.
Stephen
What an angel!
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul, thank you...she is my heart.
ReplyDeleteBug's hair is always a mess. She refuses to let me touch it. We are in her anti-clean faze. You have a great grandbaby! Be safe today!
ReplyDeleteDear Lila, you are far too kind. Thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteI second the R. P's "angel" comment, it'd be difficult to have a bad day when you have a child or grand child with that disposition.
ReplyDeleteMatt, thank you. She is a sweetheart and every day I thank the Good Lord for the blessing and gift he has given us.
ReplyDeleteand here I was thinking her hair was looking cute! lol! precious!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least the worst of the storm will miss you folks this time around. I'm watching it go on up the coast with some relief. Cutting up downed pine trees and going without power in August is not my idea of a good time.
ReplyDeleteKellie, thanks. Guess I was a bit too overcritical.
ReplyDeleteArsenius, I understand. Last two bad storms down here left me a two week mess, and eight days of lost power. Thank goodness for my generator.
Mess? I think she looks absolutely adorable. What a beautiful girl. You are a lucky Papa.
ReplyDeleteI hope the storm stays off shore. Stay safe my friend.
Blessings,
Red
Red, thank you. I'll pass along your comments to her. Should see her in about an hour.
ReplyDeleteI hope the rains are good to you, not too much, just enough. Thanks for dropping by my page and leaving sweet comments. God bless.
ReplyDeleteKW, thank you, Sweet Lady. Our rain was light but welcome. And, you are welcome, too.
ReplyDeleteStephen - i think she looks adorable but most of us would think she looked adorable even if her head was shaved.
ReplyDeletei just have to say that i understand what you mean by wanting to butt-kick her mother --- when i was a little girl my mother did mine and my sister's hair every morning before school - we always had braids or ponytails or little bows in our hair - and on special occasions my mom would tie our hair up in rags the night before so that we would have beautiful curls.
Little Bits hair is beautiful as it is - but i wish her mom would take some special pride in doing her hair for her every day! and i think that is what you meant eh?
maybe Papa could learn how to braid and make ponytails? or put little bows in that match her shirt? i would kill to read posts about you doing her hair.....teeheehee!!!
as always,
stassja
She is a joy. I love that little girl. I wish I could see her and you more often. Love always.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Juvenal is Hannah... I didn't expect it to show up like that.
ReplyDeleteStassja, I keep a brush, hairbands and other girly things in the truck for her. Thanks for the nice comments.
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Hannah, we love and miss you too. Little Bit is her this Sunday afternoon. She's been helping her Papa and Nana all day. She just yelled, "Hannah, I love you."
Excuse posting mistakes please. I'm using my Blackberry. Hate it.
ReplyDeleteThis sweet little girl has just answered any questions about sacrifices you make-She Loves It! I know you must love that! Her hair is hers and it is on a child! She can't help what anyone does to it at this age! She is a beautiful Girl! We all have some rough days with our hair and being a child. Tell her she is pretty! You don't have to apologize for anything! Her Papa could make some nice braids, she'd probably cherish that!

"Little girls like butterflies need no excuses." Robert A. Heinlin
TeresaK, yes she did indeed. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOdysseus, Mr Heinlin was correct of course. Thank you for dropping in for a visit.
