It's obvious I've been away for almost two days. To tell the truth my work days have been long and tiring. The morning after Thanksgiving I was back at the shop at zero dark thirty, then again today. It's funny to see the surprise on the customers faces when they drive by, brake, and walk inside...almost all say they thought I'd have been closed. I remind them I have democrats to support.

Late this afternoon, after my shop was locked, I came home and took the left over turkey and as the new age chefs like to say, 'deconstructed' that sucker. Then I built a nice stew. It met Sweet Wife's approval. It was served with garlic toast made from a baguette of French bread. Contentment in a bowl.

Tomorrow after church we shall drive north and place a Christmas arraignment on the grave of my father-in-law. Then, after Sweet Wife has a few minutes with her father, we'll walk around a quaint little village and visit a few antique stores. We'll have dinner at a local seafood joint and then a peaceful drive home. Like I said, we're content.

It's been a nice quiet Thanksgiving. I hope yours was the same.

  3. Mine was hectic. Not to go into particulars which I won't do with a second Obozo term and political rhetoric that I will participate in :) but I had a funeral to go to. A very close one as a matter of fact so no Thanksgiving here this year.

  4. We had a good one here. My fueding daughters decided to set it all aside and get back to being sisters. Nice. One more thing to be thankful for.

I love gravy and turkey over pan fried sweet potatoes. Quick, easy and tasty. Plenty of good leftovers, even after sending plates of food home with guests.

  5. Life is always so busy. It's nice to have quiet and calm to just enjoy time with your spouse. Antique store shopping, now that sounds exciting. No camping equipment there though.

  6. I might stumble on a piece of camping gear, Sandy. Believe it or not I once found a rare revolver in an antique store..at a third of its book value. And yes, life is always so busy and if we allow the pace takes over our lives. Thanks, my dear lady.

  7. IF I ever experience true, swinging from the trees joyfulness, I'm sure my adrenaline wouldn't allow me to stay in that stage for long before I'd pass out from sheer exhaustion.

Having said that, NOTHING is more peaceful or satisfying than pure contentment.

    1. I understand, Joy. It's been a long time since I've experienced pure joyfulness, at least six months...but I'm at least, or was, content. Lot to be said for such...thanks, my dear lady.

  8. Love the quiet times after the hectic ones. Made a BIG pot of turkey soup - fresh carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, coriander, salt, pepper and other spices. It is soooo good!
Wish I could send you and Sweet Wife some.
