My life is hectic and my writing has suffered because of it. Please be patient with me. I'll explain soon.
In the meantime I read a story this morning written by an old friend. We were, once upon a time, very close. Then one day we had words. It wasn't pretty, and as a result of the words thrown each at the other, our friendship was torn beyond repair. We haven't spoken since that fateful day. None the less on those rare occasions when he writes I continue to read his blog.
I respect, for the most part, his views.
Anyway, if you have a few minutes read this.
I'm sure the link will shock the heck out of him. He believes I hate his guts. I don't.
After all, once upon a time he was my friend.
Stephen
Good read.
ReplyDeleteAgree, not bad at all...thanks, Sweet One.
DeleteSometimes, Stephen, words can be like bullets finding their mark. But unlike bullets, words can also heal a wound.
ReplyDeleteAt times, but not always. Thank you, Dear Phyllis.
DeleteBeen there. Tried to reach out to an old friend through his brother and ex- wife....ZIP, ZERO...Done.
ReplyDeleteBut at least YOU tried - that's what matters! Same thing happened to me, too. I waited 40 long years though. Finally found out she died twelve years ago....
DeleteRob, some are just too damn hardheaded to care. Thanks.
DeletePhyllis, sad. Sorry.
don't know what to say....true friendship can make the tough times become great comedy......though it sometimes takes time to get there.
ReplyDeleteWell said, my friend. Sad thing is, I'm a very hard man to 'piss off.' I hold friendship dearly. Some lines, though, I just will not cross. Thank you, very much.
DeleteGreat story. Backing up a bit, I have been reading up on sealing primers. Some feel that using certain chemical sealers might render rounds unsafe. I'm not sure spraying them with lacquer would be an issue. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteAlso, here's two products made for it (but not as fast):
http://www.cabelas.com/tools-accessories-george-roys-custom-primer-sealant-1.shtml?rid=10&WT.tsrc=AFF&WT.mc_id=k244266
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/954332/markron-custom-bullet-and-primer-sealer-1-2-oz-liquid?productnumber=954332
Perhaps these or similar products come in a spray form?
Truthfully, my friend, I find it a waste of time to try and seal surplus ammunition. The military requirements are strict about primer seals. Now, hunting ammunition might require a seal if the owner thinks it might get wet, but in most cases that too is a waste of time.
DeleteForeign military surplus, on the other hand, could probably use an extra dose of lacquer if its purchased for survival preps. Thanks, my friend.
Actually, I wasn't referring to surplus ammo. I wouldn't waterproof that either. What do you think of the opinion that spraying NON-sealed primers with lacquer could cause dangerous misfires was my question.
DeleteTIA...
I read it and posted on his blog sons of liberty aint got time for the crap that divides us rather we need to focus on what unites us i have a feeling that both of you would be glad to be back to back when the shit hits the fans God bless
ReplyDeleteAnon, good point. Yes, he'd be a good man in a foxhole. He's a fine shot....thank you.
DeleteI am confused.
ReplyDeleteYour ex-friend is an idiot. Actually he is beyond an idiot. Going around and digging in a graveyard is not some type of minor offence, like a traffic ticket, that you just move along from.
Does it really take a cussing from an old timer to tell him that digging up around peoples graves is not the right thing to do?
I am glad you don’t hate him, but the fact that a verbal sledge hammer to his head brought him to his senses, I don’t find all that encouraging. Really, it sounds like another story of regrets because they are caught.
Russell, what can I say....he has issues. He in fact, if the story reflects past actions, was digging a cache to bury prep rifles and ammunition behind his ancestors grave. Which, if he truly did bury said cache, was stupid of him to write of such activities. Now all we need do is find his families cemetery and dig for gold.
DeleteThanks, my good friend. Oh, I'm currently deep into one of your recommendations, 'The Pulse.'
Craig at Keep It Simple Survival recommended it. However, I agree that it looks very interesting. After his review I ordered the hard copy, but I don't have it in hand yet.
DeleteThe book I read with a similar title is Death Pulse, which may be the worst PA novel I have ever read.

ReplyDeleteAnon, thank you for the very kind comment. I will continue to write. My pace has slowed due to life, but I'll be here. Please, jump in and comment as often as you wish. God Bless.
DeleteGreat story ... thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Odie.
DeleteThe lack of reading comprehension in some of the above comments is simply astounding. As Brock tried to communicate, this was a narrative intended to inspire and awaken Patriots. Perhaps re reading it would be in order. -55six
