In the hours before dawn the river is a wavy reflection of color cast by the city lights. Streaks of amber and ivory and red. A momentary and wistful display seen only at this hour. The fog lifts and with the mornings first light the painting disappears. It's the nature of light and life. Tiny reflections, fragile, easily disturbed.
People are much the same. They walk into our lives and cast their colors and give us reflections into their spirits and lift and guide us on our daily walks. Much as you good folks have done for me over the last two days.
You have overwhelmed me.
This morning I shall make every attempt to individually answer each of your comments. Seems the least I can do after such a wonderful outpouring of support during this difficult period of my life.
I hope each of you awaken to find a personal watercolor to begin your day. God bless you.
Stephen
As long as it's a water color spread and not a unicorn riding a rainbow... :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better.
Don't underestimate those unicorns, Bubba...they give a heck of a ride....thank you.

DeleteGlad to hear you are OK! Will keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, stopsign...and thanks for dropping by...don't be a stranger.
DeleteWhat some people will do for attention on their birthdays??
ReplyDeleteGlad your better. Lets not make this a regular habit shall we...;)
I'll do my best, Rob. BTW, I hate birthdays....I mentioned it only as an aside to the events of the day..the surgeon said, hell of a gift on your birthday. I agreed. Thanks..
DeleteGood to see you on the mend. Perhaps something a bit less dramatic for your next round . . . . a hang nail perhaps, a small cut fully repairable my Miss Little Bit??? Will keep you in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThank you, my friend. I hope they 'let me' out today.
DeleteJust seeing this post from you puts a little color in all of our lives. Get well, my friend. And God Bless you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, John...and God bless you and yours.
DeleteYou're a good man, Charlie Brown, err, Stephen. I'm glad you're going to stick around in this world a while longer. The world needs your kind to balance the crazies.
ReplyDeleteAw, shucks, thank you, Sweet Mermaid. I'm very happy to still be here...all my love.
DeleteHeck of a way to spend your birthday, I'm sure you got extra special treatment in the hospital....you know your own bed and everything. Don't leave your gun loaded on the tray table, freaks out the nurses.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention my gun...these people sure freak out at the sight of a sweet little Glock...screams and stuff. I told 'em it was nice and wouldn't bite...then the cops came and I explained and they said fine...just please leave it in my truck...weired, huh. Thanks, Bubba.
DeleteWhat drugs are they giving you? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better!
So glad you are on the mend. A little late but.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :)
DeleteDrugs, I've a list, and too many to name...Peggy, thanks...I had a fine birthday...gift of life.
DeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better Stephen. I'm praying you make a full recovery. Don
ReplyDeleteThank you, Don...it means a lot to me. Take care.
DeleteHanging....I am so ready to get the heck out of here...nurse, he's 6'4" and bald...
ReplyDeleteVery glad to hear you're still with us. The world is a bit brighter. I pray you heal quickly & are 'let go' just as quickly.
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend. Sweet wife was 'allowed' to drive me home yesterday, late. I almost shouted with joy. I thought of you while in hospital after a visit from the hospital's friendly Chaplin. He asked if I'd like to join him in prayer. I said, "Sure. Can't hurt." Not long after he departed I turned to my wife and said it would have been nice if Rev. Paul had been here in place of the Chaplin...not sure why, guess I just wanted a friend instead of a stranger. Sweet Wife later asked the nurse if a visit from a Chaplin normal...they said, no, but your husband seemed depressed. Go figure.
DeleteThe least you can do for us is to rest and get better. I love hearing from you, but don't worry about answering my comments.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't hard to answer a comment from such a Pretty Girl....thank you, dear one...I love hearing from you too. Take care and have a great day. I have another workday off...I've had enough.
DeleteI'm a little late to the party but I just read your last post and this one, and I'm glad to see you are feeling better. Hopefully by now you're home and resting.
ReplyDeleteSweet Kris, I am indeed home and at rest. I feel fine, kinda tired, but fine. I hope you and yours are well too. Have a great day, and thank you.
Deletedear sweet one - i sure do hope that they let you out soon! we are a little busy painting the kitchen cupboards but we'll drop everything to come down and help Duke bust you out! no worries about commenting back - i just want you to know that we have thinking about you, sending healing thoughts and best wishes for your speedy recovery. you and yours are always in our prayers, but we have been saying extra special ones for the past few days. promise to follow the doctors orders, and promise to give Sweet Wife a very special hug and kiss when you are up and about. maybe take her on a special overnight out somewhere nice - she really deserves it!
ReplyDeleteall of our love to you and yours Stephen! your friends,
kymber and jambalone
My Sweet kymber and jambalone...I am home. Arrived here late last evening. I'm fine. My cardiologist said it rare for a heart patient to be released so soon...I think they just wanted to get rid of me. Jamie, I feel it wrong to make you wait so long for those pink grapefruit, so early next week, if possible, I shall send a package with a few select pieces...please, don't hold me to this because the season ends in early April...I'll try my best. God bless you both.
Deleteoh Stephen - i am so glad that you are home - woohoo! and no worries about the grapefruit - just focus on getting better and spending time with Sweet Wife and Little Bit!
Deleteyour friend,
kymber
Oh, and when they do finally let you out of there, we will probably hear your screams as they pull off all the heart monitor stickers. Continued prayers that all will go well with your recovery.
ReplyDeleteMrs. S., believe it or not I spent about an hour last night removing the tape residue from my chest with little alcohol wipes, along with much of my chest hair. Ouch. Thank you very much for your kind prayers. How's the house projects coming along...take care.
DeleteI sure do hear you about birthdays. My 63rd birthday gift was a stroke. I managed to fool them all and not only survived, but have done pretty well. Never be what I was before, but we all get old, eh?
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you are doing well for now. Furthermore, I hope you find, as I did, that the year of being hell bound and in a strait jacket does end and you move back into a better state of both mind and health.
Very best wishes to you and yours.
Winston
Thank you, Winston. It's nice to hear from another man's take on survival. I've asked myself alot lately what I've done to piss off God. But one illness lead to another and I truly hope He's finished with me. I've learned my lesson...best wishes to your and yours too.
DeleteTake it easy and get yourself well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Michelle. I shall and hope the same for you. God bless.
DeleteStephen, I am so happy that you are okay. The world would be dimmer place without you. Prayers that you are all well soon. xo michele - and please, reserve your energy for your sweet wife and Little Bit rather than reply to this comment:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear sweet lady. My energy improves with each day. I do owe my Sweet Wife a few days of relaxation. I'll always be there for my Little Bit (God just laughed) Please, don't work so hard. I do keep up with your daily adventures. You should be very proud of yourself. Tell you lovely children and husband hello for me.
DeleteMaybe you just like hospital food. Go ahead, admit it, it's ok. Bland, pasty, indescribable mush. Just kidding, bud. Get well and get home. No response is neccesary-save your strength!
ReplyDeleteI asked my nurse, yesterday, how in the world can a kitchen staff screw up a bowl of oatmeal....he grinned. Thank you so much for he kind comment. Take care, my friend.
DeleteBless your heart, it's so good to see you back "here". You've been in a lot of prayers and on a lot of minds, you were missed! More prayers for your continued healing and comfort.
ReplyDeleteShar
Shar, you are sweet beyond mere words. Thank you so much..not only for your prayers but for your presence. God bless you.
DeleteNo need to comment to this one, but you share with us such a good heart, one that carries with it courage, kindness an an abiding love of family. We are honored to know you in the ways you can. Get well.
ReplyDeleteBrigid, you are a very special person. I'm honored to know you....God bless.
DeleteOh my dear Stephen! I just heard the news and was horrified. (I've been away from the computer for awhile)
ReplyDeleteI praise God that you are going to be ok. The bonds we bloggers share are as strong as family. I will be praying for you many times each day. You are a dear and special man.
Blessings,
Red
Sweet Lady, I'll be fine. One horrible night and the rest, I hope, is history. My Sweet Wife is all over my care. You are correct, we bloggers do seem to have a special bond. I care for all of you. Thank you for the kind comment...God bless.
DeleteStephen,
ReplyDeleteI've been off line for a couple of days...we delayed the burial of baby Sebastian until little Blaise's coffin was exhumed and moved so both boys could be buried together. That happened yesterday. So today I was shocked to "check in" to your site and read of the heart attack. My first reaction (aside from concern for you) was the thought of poor Lil Bit and what must have been absolute terror for her. Remind her when you get home that God indeed has a special plan for you and you will keep fighting to stay with her. She'll need alot more TLC now and reassurances from her beloved PaPa. My four year old granddaughter is struggling so much with the loss of her baby brother-she was too young to remember much about Blaise's death, but is very aware of the double whammy within her family. You're a tough one, armed with the prayers of so many. But its our little ones that are left struggling and so often overlooked. Please know that in addition to praying for your swift recovery, there will be a double dose for Lil Bit. Twice in a couple of months is alot for her sweet heart and mind to handle. She is right there with my beloved Nat Nat in my prayers. Get well soon
Mammaw B
Mammaw, I'm so sorry. I truly can't imagine what you've been through in the last few weeks. Yes, it was very hard on Little Bit. In fact she and I had just retired for the evening when my pain became apparent and intensified. She tried her best to help me by rubbing my arm and shoulders. When the medics arrived she cried and tried to follow me to the truck, but had to be held back by her Nana. They would not allow her to see me until late the next evening, and even then only because it was my birthday. She sat on the edge of my bed and held me. It hurt. I hope to see her again this evening. I can't wait. May the Good Lord bless and heal you. Thank you very much for you time and comments.
DeletePrayers to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Skip. Don't be a stranger. God bless you.
DeleteSkip, I just clicked on your blog. Great header picture...now write...we need another gun culture blog. A great fight for our rights is in our future. I became a follower...
DeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better. Came via Brigid's post.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my new friend. Any friend of Brigid's is a friend of mine. I hope we have a long and fruitful friendship.
DeleteIn My Prayers. .
ReplyDeleteAs you are in mine...with love.
DeleteSpeedy recovery good sir.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shepherd, I'm hard at work on my recovery...God bless.
DeleteThe watercolor that started a great day this week was finding out that you were just fine. Black was the color when I got the first email.
ReplyDeleteSorry, my friend. I truly didn't plan it. Thank you very much for your concern...God bless.
