Seems I've made a liar of myself. This morning I stated we'd spend the afternoon hunkered down in wait for a large storm. We didn't. Instead Sweet Wife asked if I'd like to get out of the house, storm or no storm. I hit the shower and was in wait behind the wheel before she had a chance to take a deep breath. Women, are slow.
She wanted to take in a large antiques mall. Fine, I knew they had nice benches and a coffee shop. What I didn't know was it also held a fine book shop. As you know books are one of my loves in life. I was happy.

I was supposed to take Older Daughter to the range, but she couldn't make it. Since it's been snowing all day, I stayed home to read.

DeleteI enjoy old books too. Sometimes you can buy old hardcovers for $5.00 or less, that is cheaper than a new paperback. I have a lot of old fishing and hunting books from 1970 or earlier. One is about the most modern camping equipment and techniques from 1956, it's a real hoot to compare that stuff to our modern equipment!

No, I didn't purchase the Balzac. I have a copy and the copy in the picture was nice but far to expensive for my taste. I once upon a time had two sets of encyclopedias. Shame is I chunked them during a long ago move and have regretted it ever since. Thanks, sweet kymber.
DeleteI have an encyclopedia set from 1903. My mother bought it at an auction years ago and we she left us, she left everything behind. I love those books. I many books from long ago. What a great way to spend the afternoon.
Deletedear one - we have 12 encyclopaedia sets! only 8 of them are complete sets - the rest are incomplete. i don't mind tho. the publishing dates range from 1889 (can you believe that?!?!?!? and that is a full set!!!) to my 1979 Collier's full set. i begged my father for the Collier's set and paid him $5 dollars a week for 3 years when i got a babysitting job. i love those encyclopaedias!!!

dear one - one of the sets i have is 50 books (i am missing 2) and is called The Great Events by Famous Historians, published 1905. i love that set. a few other sets contain 30+ plus books. i have read and re-read all of them. i love my paedias!
