I Like

The television show, Pawn Stars.

I mean, they deal in firearms, gold and silver, and books. Often, during the show, the camera gives a view of a showcase filled with Navajo Silver jewelry - another of my likes which I've collected since the early 70's.

What's not to like...

  1. Other than the fact that they're assholes, I guess it's an okay show... "I" would never darken their doorstep though.

    1. Agreed, and I never darken their doorstep either.....unless my boss insisted. Thanks, my friend.

  2. We watch it sometimes, too, but aren't crazy about the way they speak to each other.

  5. Have driven by the place. Much smaller than it appears on television. Might do business with the old man but not the son or grandson.

  6. We have caught some of the older seasons on DVD's from the library; it is interesting what some people think things are worth. I am guessing the two older men are a little more polite at home or they never would have been able to keep a wife long enough to produce the next generation.

One of hubby's coworkers visited the store when he went to Vegas. He said the prices on things for sale are ridiculously high compared to here in the middle of the country.

    1. Nothing is cheap...price is relative. Having said that the tour buses roll in hourly and they have a captive and ready outlet for their merchandise, so yes, their stock tends to be on the expensive side. I don't blame them. We are, after all, capitalist. Thanks, dear lady.

  7. The place is a dump and it's all staged. When I went there it felt like I was bothering them just to walk inside.

It is, however, 3.25 miles up from the venetian.
Hey, have to have a landmark to turn around at when you are running. Anything further and I wouldn't feel very safe at all.

  8. Hubby loves the show - I don't. But as for silver, cannot have enough rings, bracelets and ear danglers. Have always loved silver, more than gold - silly me...

  10. I've heard that it's partly staged, but I enjoy it nonetheless. People bring in the darndest things, and being a bit of a history geek I enjoy the variety, as well as trying to guess the worth vs what realistic cash in hand will be.

    1. I too like to guess the items worth. I know how much he'll offer, it's a given...thanks, my friend.

  11. The old man and the nutty son drive me crazy, so I became addicted to HARDCORE PAWN in Detroit. The owners might be staged, but there's no way they could stage the Detroit customers DEMANDING they get $300 for a broken dos computer.

I watch it to see the mass invasion to their store by Detroit's 'finest'.

There's also a spin-off called HARDCORE PAWN CHICAGO. It's as irritating and staged as PAWN STARS.

    1. I've watched Hardcore Pawn too. Too many Indians and not enough Chiefs.
