Know What I Want

A good 'ole RC Cola and a Moon Pie. Perhaps one of those little bags of Lance salted peanuts and a  tiny bottled Coke in which to pour the nuts and sip the fizz...

Don't even tell me you haven't tried Coke and peanuts.

It's been so long for me I can't remember the last taste.

Think of this as my bucket list in reverse.

Stephen

  1. Ahh, the summers of 1968 - 1971, spent with my cousins in SWGA. One of these was always an afternoon snack, brought to the field, by the farmer's wife. Every now & then it was switched to Grape Nehi's or Orange Crush's with Lance crackers.

    1. I seldom ever drink sodas, but if so it'd be a Coke...it's a Southern thing, don't 'ya know...and since my paternal grandmother's family founded the company, kinda personal too.

  3. Stephen,

My FIL and Husband used to put peanuts in there soda all the time.

My down fall used to be salty pretzels and to wash them down with grape soda.

  4. Guess I was deprived as a child, for not only have I never had a Moon Pie, but I never before heard of peanuts in Coke. I hang my head in shame.

    1. Never too late, Vicki...down here the local Cracker Barrel sells Moon Pies by the case....I like banana flavor. Find a Coke, a small package of Lance peanuts then open the drink, take a few sips and pour the peanuts into the Coke. New experience makes life worth living.

  5. I'm with Sandy: Pepsi & pretzels. Or cheese curls. Or ... well, anything salty. :)

  6. Never heard of Coke and peanuts, either. I prefer Pepsi, too. But then, I am an old Yankee, so what can I say.

  7. RC cola was pretty good as I remember it, better than coke. Is RC cola still around maybe somewhere besides where I am? Never liked moon pies though I will go with Sandy and RP for something salty.

    1. I seem to remember RC stocked at our local Publix....at least I hope so because I plan to purchase a case. Try the banana flavored Moon Pies. Pretty darn tasty.

  8. Coke and peanuts or pretzels was delicious. Probably still is. Btu to demonstrate willpower in my advancing years I needed to give up something. Soda pop was it. Don't drink it unless it is the only thing available and can't remember when that was last the case.

  10. RC and a Moon pie were my Saturday treat if I'd found enough coke bottles... and yeah, six oz coke and Lance's peanuts!!! :-) Sigh...

  12. Awww, I hear of RC Cola and think of my Grandma. Her Daddy managed an RC bottling company in Paris, TX back in the thirties. They always had sodas even during the depression. In her senior yearbook many comments mentioned remembering her always with her RC Cola and a moon pie or a peanut patty.
