To the States

To the States or any one of them, or any city of

the States, Resist much, obey little,

  Once unquestioning obedience, once fully

enslaved,

Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city of this

earth, ever afterward resumes its liberty.

Walt Whitman from his Leaves of Grass, 1855.

  1. Finally, Florida refused to drop its pants and bend over! They refused to have a special session to discuss changing the Stand Your Ground law.

And everyone relinquished their chairs, and slowly mosied out the door.

    1. Yeah...those kids made noise last evening for the press but in fact they've run away with the tails tucked between their collective legs. Screw 'em.

  2. "Young man, what we meant in going for those Redcoats was this: we always had governed ourselves and we always meant to. They didn't mean we should."
~ Captain Levi Preston, of the Danvers militia, at age 91, remembering the day

And I say we still mean to.

  3. We've always been states rights people down here. The state government is more responsive to the wishes of the people because it's a small enough unit to take into account the fact that there are different cultures in different states, even if you completely set aside race. The Feds want everybody to march in lockstep and be good little Borg.

    1. I totally agree. Then again we always seem to be on the same page. Thanks, Harry.

  4. My friend, I fear we have already passed the point of no return. Certainly, there will be some issues which will yield some pushback for a time. Then, attention spans will wane, and the damage will be done quietly while the media looks the other way or has us distracted with smoke and mirrors.

    1. Very true, Daddy Hawk, this country is doomed and yet I feel we must not turn the other cheek and yell, give. We can take this country back to our Founder's wonderful dream but it will take sacrifice and that blood will be given by the young. We're older which limits our involvement. We cannot allow this younger generation to forget. Thank you, my friend.
