Love the rain--the gentle sound of it on my aluminum porch roof. . .And even the heavy downpour on the same roof! It makes trees look so clean and fresh afterwards. We really need the rain. . .my pond is falling again.
Rain is nature's lullaby, I think. August is our "wet" month here, and it's been raining almost continuously since the 1st. You'd probably have trouble staying awake, here; I know we are!
Stationed in Thailand for a year - lived downtown in house on stilts with a metal roof. Rain is rain and a monsoon is lots and lots of rain! Slept good! Well, we were up under a triple canopy of palm trees on a slope up from the beach on the Gulf of Siam.
It can be an unusually relaxing sound unless you need to dash out into it. Then it is the sound of Mother Nature laughing at you.

ReplyDeleteI detest steady heat and constant bright sun. But for the past two weeks, every night at 5 we get our 30 minute thunderstorm. Wonderful.
It rarely rains such large drops to pound the roof, but it did last night. We sat outside under the porch roof, and felt like Kings.
Just wait until we enter our wet season....
DeleteCan't beat rain on a tin (or any kind of metal) roof. We used to have a lake cabin that we built with a tin roof... lots of quality nap time :)
