Lost Treasure

For the last two weeks I've been neck deep in shredded paper as I give our home office a deep clean. In the process I've been pleasantly pleased to stumble upon a few lost treasures, long thought lost.

Example,

Now I ask - how many of my wise and intelligent readers can identify the item, made of leather and brass, in the middle of this picture?

Take your time.

    1. Correct, my friend. Specifically a game bird carrier. After the bird is retrieved you hang it by placing the birds feet within the loops. Thus its carried outside and kept cool. Game poaches have a tendency to overly warm game. Thanks, my friend.

  4. Stephen,

It's a belt to attach to something to make it easier to carry or drag.

    1. Yes, it can be hung from one's belt, with a load of quail or ducks. Thanks, Sweet Sandy.

    1. Thanks, Bill. About the photo...I do not know. I came across a series of these photos, art pieces, while zipping around the net. There was no mention of the artist or explanation of the pieces. I rotate the header with several of them from time to time...I like them, they're haunting and stark. I chose them as in several the models are Standing Outside, Looking In.

    1. I found them by chance. Author, at least to me, unknown. Hope I haven't broken any copyright laws. And, yes, the second figure gives the appearance of a specter. Thanks, Sweet One.

  7. I don't know what that is, but you need to get you one of those boxes with a glass front that goes on your "I love me" wall. Then you put your awards in it, and put it up in your study. That way, you can sit back and drink your coffee, listen to the radio, and remember things. It's good if you have some pictures framed and up there, too. A few cruise charts, pictures of your old ships (which have all gone to the breakers by now) and pictures of you and your old buddies. Then you forget all the bad stuff and just remember all the good things and wish you could go back and do it again.

    1. Nope, never been a 'love me' kinda guy. I like certain of my old possessions and kept them manly for those brief glimpses into the past. Some items, like those in the clear bag, I stash away. Those memories serve nothing for me. I wasn't a shipboard sailor. Never part of the ship's crew other than a few short visits TAD. Thanks, Harry.

  9. OK I will go off the deep end so everyone can have a good laugh..Some kind of wild sex toy. I told you that you would laugh at it.

A shadow box for the ribbons and medals would look great. How about a story to go along with them??

    1. That would make a wild sex toy....

Rob, I'm sorry but I do not reflect nor relate tales of those days. It's a personal thing with me. I've never been one to wear my heart of my sleeve as many old service men have a tendency. Some things are best left in the past.

      Thanks, my friend.
