Good Morning

Here's a big hello and welcome to two new followers, SteveierayV and Joe Schmo. Gentlemen, I promise to always reply to your comments.

Please, drop by and say hello. Each have very unique blogs.

Tropical storm Andrea seems determined to wash our area out to sea. I awoke to pounding rain which I'm sure has my old cat in a tissy. I actually used my worn yellow slicker, for the first in many years, for the walk to my truck.

Suffice it to say, I'm still wet, and get this...arrived to work to find my coffee mess absent cream for my morning brew. Long day ahead.

*****

Today marks one year since I've held my Little Bit. One freaking lousy year.

I'd planned to write a longer piece, to her. It isn't possible. I haven't the mindset at this time. I'm sure I'd break down, and the urge for a kill shot is just too great. Maybe tomorrow.

Stephen

  2. Good luck with your day. Don't let the glum weather darken your mood too much.

Perhaps this family storm will also eventually blow itself out and your little sunshine will return.

  4. A year is not long enough. Wouldn't be for me, and I guess it's not for you. I will pray for you and yours. Do the same for me.

  5. A year is far too long Stephen.

When we aren't guaranteed to be alive tomorrow, not being around any loved one for a single day is bad enough, but when they are young and grow like weeds and you have too miss all that....

I can't truly comprehend your pain.

    1. Matt, you're a good friend. When a loved one goes missing the breaks down into very long seconds.

  7. Write about your anger, Stephen. You don't have to save it in a binder. Write it down, then tear it up, burn it or put it away in your gun safe. It will make you feel better. Only those of us that have gone down this path know what your are feeling. Hugs.....

    1. I can't write about my anger. It hurts. The words float and drag some awful thoughts to the surface. Thank you for the warm hug.

    1. Bubba, the storm has departed. She only visited with a few gusts of stiff winds and a bunch of rain. Thanks, my good friend.

  9. Hang in there the weather will pass. A year seems so short on the other the hand a long long time.

Sending you both a big hug, I know it's been a long time since holding your sweet grand daughter. If you write a letter, don't send it. Hold on to it or put it in a bottle and throw it into the ocean.
Please be weather aware and safe.

    1. Sandy, sweet dear lady, if I write of my anger I'd post it. I'd rather, though, be reflective. It's safer. Thanks, and I'll pass along the hug.

Don't forget (not that you could) that Little Bit has known her Grandfather. She will not forget the wonderful man that took her to school and bought her breakfast, and just generally was everything a Grandfather is supposed to be. At some point she will ask questions, and as she gets older and more mature the answers are not going to add up. She WILL come to you at her first opportunity! It may take a while, and you may have to be very patient, but it WILL happen.

Stay safe and have faith my friend.

    1. But can I be sure, how do I know she'll not forget. She's so very young. Thanks, Bubba.

    2. Oh, sweet Stephen. You have loved that child so deeply that her soul could not possibly forget. You gave her all of you, all of your heart, all of your time and I find it hard to believe that as young as she is that she is not old enough to remember. You are her ripcord in life and that is just never forgettable. I agree with Navy91 - have faith and one day she will be back.
