It's Early

I took a walk this morning about 0300, and have since had my fill of the news. Just wanted to let you guys know I'm sorry for the lack of attention to this blog. Still have problems with sleep.

Tried to write yesterday and my muse failed me. She's a fickle little girl, Miss Muse.

See you nice folks later today.

Stephen

    1. Oh, I worry. I've always tried my best to keep my promises, little quirky thing in my nature. Having said that; I made a promise to myself I'd post here everyday. Obviously I've be unable to keep that promise. Guess I could write and schedule items for the future but when the muse and time doesn't allow, I fail. Thanks for the concern over my sleepless nights but it's a demon I must fight alone. Thanks, Sweet kymber.

  2. Duke,

Sorry to hear your having problems sleeping. No need to explain, take care of yourself. Your blogging friends understand and will be here.

Your friend Sandy, the other one that doesn't sleep (damn hormones, hubby tells me he will be rocking me to sleep with boulders).

  3. Welcome to my world. Have you tried to stay up a little later. I was up til 1am and I was still up at lest once during the night. i gave up at 0600. After all it is DST, long days, short nights. Once my brain spools up like a jet engine I'm up.

    1. Awful isn't it, my friend. Like you it only takes one little jar of some kind and then I'm fully awake. This morning it was the sound of my irrigation system pump. I woke thinking it had just rained and I needed to shut it off, so, off to the garage and the rest is history. Take care, my friend.

    1. Funny you should mention grandchildren, Sixbears. Little Bit spent last evening with us, rare for a midweek night. I rose and eased her into my spot on the bed. This morning she asked me why I couldn't sleep. Told I was standing guard against the boogeymen. I received an extra kiss for my efforts. Thanks, my friend.

Wish I new what to suggest, other than taking some time off. You've had a busy life this year.

  8. You should not put pressure on yourself. We are all here and we will always be. It's ok to take time and just be. There is a lot for you to sort through.

    1. Sweet Girl, I just don't have time to 'just be.' Really, I don't. I just took a look at my calender and just about every Monday is circled in red. My schedule is tight. This is the first break I've had a morning, and look at this - back to the blog. I'm fine, Pretty Girl, really. My life will return to normal soon. God bless you and thanks.

  9. My muse has been largely absent of late; if it weren't for people seemingly hungry for news out of Alaska, I'd have nothing to write at all.

Proceed at your own pace, sir; we'll be here.

    1. I understand my good friend. When asked recently, by another nice blog writer, where I 'get my ideas' I simply said, life. I told her, look around the room, find an object and write about it. Look at me now...
      Thanks.

I had severe sleeping problems for five years. Just a little time of my medicine and clinical career ;-) Sad but true. Most problematic one (sleeping clinics a few times and more...): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheyne-Stokes_respiration

Not funny I could tell you fable like stories only about that little prob. Really peanuts compared to other problems I had... I took some Vitamin B12 pills later for a couple of days and what a miracle sons of .... doctors... After.... those problems. Gone. After five years, just within some days. Of course. Clear. Comprehensible. Not immediately for me. If you want to take pills (Vit B12) gotta check your stomach capable of absorbing it. Or perhaps problematic stomach behavior. Then injections help. More expensive also...

But that is not why I post.

Stephen has lost he said his muse. Here are just some words that will help you easily my fellow and others I am sure also. Here we go. Max speed Mach 3. Now your belt won´t help anymore. Ready for take off? Parachute check? Ejection seat function checked? Afterburning:

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/muse

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otium

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/time#English

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/idle

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/mythology

If that doesn´t help, then you need personal treatment and care by a professional ;-)

I am just studying and advancing in demagogy. ;-)

Sadly the word and signification got a bad reputation.

Exaggerating a bit, joking but hoping not to upset someone. (Erased my first comment because of a spelling mistake sorry.)

    Yours sincerely

  13. I also, have tried to blog every day. I stressed about it for several weeks. Guess what? It doesn't matter. Blog when you can, or feel like it. After I quit stressing about it, I felt a whole lot better.

And we will all still be here. Try to work on your stress, but don't stress about it. As my wife says, RELAX!! Course, sometimes that is easier said than done.

Take some time for yourself if you can, even if it is for only ten or twenty minutes, it does help my friend.

  15. Dream time and sleepy time teas are both good for that.So is passion flower and valerian.Just be sure to check with your doctor before using the herbal remedies as some can have a bad interaction with medications. Stress can cause sleep problems, and you have certainly have your share of it lately.Perhaps a short sabbatical from the blog would help with the sleep and the muse. We would all miss you,but I'm sure folks would want you to do what is best for you at this time. Just be sure to keep a notebook close so you can write down any ideas that come to you for when you are ready for them.

  16. Here's the last nag, promise.
Calculate bedtime minus approximately 10 hours; that time should be the last cup of coffee for the day. Coffee has caffeine; caffeine keeps people awake. I know you love your coffee, but you need to sleep too. Treat coffee like a medication and watch your dosages and times. Good luck. Hope your muse returns.

Your trouble sleeping reminds me a little of when we had a Kurdish family staying with us at the in-laws house up here before it sold. Back in the days of Clinton - primarily because of his botched foreign policies regarding no-fly zones, the Kurdish family had been granted asylum and airlifted out of Iraq. Their youngest child was born in Guam. They were having trouble getting little Mo to sleep through the night. He would always wake up- ping - around 3 a.m. He slept a lot better (and so did we) after we convinced his mom to avoid drinking the strong, black, boiled tea after lunchtime. See, she would have tea, then a few hours later she would feed the baby, then baby would digest his dinner and get a massive caffeine rush in the middle of the night.

Of course, you could always ask your dear wife to help you get to sleep, with your doctor's permission of course.
Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Believe it or not, Sweet Mrs. S., I have since knocked off the coffee well prior to 1600 each day. It can't be caffeine. Now, the Sweet Wife idea warrants research...thanks, my nice friend.
