Yes, I had apost on my blog recently about full service stations VS gas stations like we have now. I thought of something else to let you know you are old. How about the headlight Dimmer switch mounted in the floor that you worked with your foot? How antiquated!
I remember my dad stopping for gas, telling the uniformed attendent "Two dollars worth of regular, please" and it FILLED THE TANK. Good heavens, I'm ANCIENT!!!
What memories. How about as kids, riding over the hose to ring the bell at the gas station. We could maybe get away with it three times. After that, they would holler at ya. Or, how about, the soda machine. Where you had to slide the bottle to be able to get it? And it cost a whole 25 cents.
Our how we'd reach into the chest style cooler filled with ice water to a small bottle of five cent Cokes. A candy bar, damn near a pound, for ten cents...
Don't forget...free water, free TV, and free recreational parks.

I once, during high school, worked at a service station and remember changing the sign to .12 cents per gallon...oh, the good 'ole days.
DeleteOur favorite gas station still has free air and it also has one full service pump still. Elderly and handicapped folks still use it.
