What's For Dinner

Thing is I'm not supposed to drive for the rest of the week and weekend...yeah, right. What 'they' don't know won't hurt them. Soon, I shall sally forth to the market and select ingredients for Shrimp Fried Rice.

I just conducted a search for my poor unused wok. It needs a workout. As do I. A nice drive will do nicely.
The recipe for this dish can be found, here.

  3. I had a similar experience in 2010 and the worst thing the doctors told me was that I could drive after the first week. Good luck. Velcro8ball

    2. I lurk all the time, I just don't think I have anything to offer. I do hope your recovery is a full as my doctors tell me mine is.

Stephen, I'm glad you are feeling better, but please follow your doctor's orders!
Shrimp??Crawdads?? Yuck! They are only good for fish bait! Use those critters to catch some good catfish instead.
Catfish, salt, peppercorns, and lemon wrapped in foil and baked in the ground...Oh, gosh that is so yummy! Fishing IS good for you anyway - soothes the soul.

  11. Shoot. Drooling now. But the orders to not drive may not be just for you - it niggles in my mind that there's a liability issue should you have an accident. Can't remember, hope I never have to look it up.

  12. Yes please take it easy. You don't want to know what we did to the last person who disobeyed orders from his doctor. . .Just kiddin. . .Be Careful and see if others are more than willing to drive for you. Maybe you can Bark some orders yourself. Everybody needs a little help sometimes...and quit that macho stuff>> it is way over rated and outdated. . .it only counts in hand granades and horseshoes!!! In My Prayers. .

  13. This is the first time Blogger has seen fit to give me a comment box. Glad you are doing okay, Stephen. Yeoldfurt had a similar experience in 2001. He got three stents that time. He got four more less than two years later. He says he's paying dues for his misspent youth. I told him he's the cause of MY gray hair!

    Get well, friend.

  14. Sorry to nag, but shrimp is a very bad idea for a cardiac patient. Did they give you a list of food do's and don'ts at the hospital?

Sorry, a lot of really tasty foods are now taboo to you.

    1. According to the 'book' of instructions I received after my discharge, I may have two servings of shell fish (shrimp included) per week...perhaps they've changed the rules...then again they said I can't have bacon...now, you know, that isn't in the works. Bacon, after all, is the staff of life. Silly doctors, what 'da heck do they know anyhow...Thanks, Mrs. S., for your concern, and bless you. I'll be careful.

    2. Hubby usually makes a few substitutions. He usually substitutes lean beef for his "optional" shellfish. He has a really fast metabolism and gets cold and sluggish without the occasional dose of red meat. We figured out he was craving something found primarily in beef. L-Carnitine supplements seem to help him a little with that.

You will also find that the portion sizes in those dietary books are based on the calorie intake of a 70 year old. If you are even remotely active, it makes following the diet really difficult.

    3. Interesting. I should follow his lead. I left a link on your blog explaining it's fine to eat shellfish. I hope he enjoys it. About the portion sizes, I agree and am far from seventy. I just busted out of my teens....thanks, my dear friend.

  15. Rats! Now I'm hungry again. And you're not behaving yourself... you're supposed to be on the mend. Be good (at least for a while) - do it not only for yourself, but for Sweet Wife & Lil' Bit.

    Get well soon!
