Still Alive

This will probably be a very quick note. Please understand I am under the influence of a mess of heavy drugs. I am still located on the sixth floor of a major medical center/hospital. This is the first opportunity I've had to connect to the internet, and a mind clear enough to use it.

I want to (thinking here) say 'thank you' to all my dear friends for your outpouring of love and concern for my health. Thank you all for your prayers. They worked.

Long story short, my Sweet Wife saved my life last Friday night, the 27th of January. The surgeon, after a quick glance at my 'wound' told us I had about six hours to live. He told us either allow him to cut, or else. Guess what I said....anyway, luck and my wife were on my side. I'll explain/tell my story later, or not. I'm unsure at the moment.

I'll be here for a while, hopefully not long.

Gotta run, they're here with their whips and chains.

Update: I will post a proper thanks and welcome to my new followers as soon as possible...in the meantime, God bless you and welcome.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Stephen

    1. Brigid, you are so special. Thank you for the kind post. I read it after the fact, and damn near cried. Then I checked my dude membership and the rules didn't allow such...so I sniffed, real hard. All joking aside, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have a friend in me. If ever...well, you know the rest. Duke made a comment about recruiting you for an escape attempt...wear black.

    2. Tell Duke I'm in. I have a knee brace that will match my Ninja outfit.

  7. Sweet Wife saved your life? Now you'll have to fold laundry for the next 50 years.

You better get better soon. I'm getting sick of having to read the actual news instead of your blog daily.

    1. Yes, she did. She forced me to the doc's office after I stepped from the shower in her presence...when she recovered from the shock, she screamed. Then, with one of my Glocks in hand and shoved into my back, took me to the sick person place...
You really read actual news...dadgum, you be smarts.

    2. Yes we've all been forced to practice true ignorance the last several day in your absence, da news, it gets old quickly! We've missed your enlightenment.

  9. My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery and with your wife, too. Glad she was there to save your neck. My thoughts are with Little Bit, too. I'm sure she's upset but she'll bounce back when she sees you on the mend.

    1. Thanks, Mermaid...Little Bit was able to visit last night...the nurses made an exception (I'm in quarantine)and allowed her to just step inside. She had to be held back. 'Nuff said. Since she lives with her parents (some believe she lives with me) they've been a big help in keeping her mind occupied with life's little bits and pieces, not Papa's condition.

    1. HH, I'm typing as fast as possible, which I'm sure, is quite apparent, in order to hold off the horde. They circle, needles at port arms. Anyhow, I felt I needed to say thanks to as many as possible in short order...you folks, well, floored me with the outpouring of love and prayers...I'll never forget it. You two, are special...thank you so very much...

    1. Lamb, Sweet Lady, I will try my best. My poor wife has cried a river of tears. It hurts me to see her in such a condition. Of course for the first few days I wasn't aware she was scared to death. Thanks, again.

  16. Stephen, don't worry about replying to this until you get to feeling better.

It's amazed HH and myself just how much you can become concerned for someone who we haven't actually met. Focus on healing and for %&*^$#%#&^%#%$ sake take care of yourself, your sweet wife needs you, your blog friends need you, and Little-bit needs you(given your recent posts about conversations with her HH and I really had our hearts in our throats at the thought of her reaction should you pass).

I think next time at the boars nest it's time to pass the hat and go rent some power equipment.

I can't say how much of a relief it is to see you post again.

  17. It's nice that you have a wife that's every bit as stubborn as you, and has the ability to make you take care of yourself. If something like this comes up again, remember, what would you do if it were Little Bit with the problem? You have to take care of yourself if you're going to be able to take care of her.

Best wishes, I hope you're out of durance vile soon.

    1. Oh, yes, she's stubborn. She walked into this building and took charge. She's a force to be reckoned with indeed. And an angel too. These nurses love her, the doctors respect and I think, fear her a bit too. Thank you and don't be a stranger.

  21. Glad you're on the mend, Stephen. It is not good to ignore the little things until they are big things and always heed the wife ...especially when she's armed!

    1. Thank you, Sweet Lady. Yes, I too missed the blogging and my friends, and the information and entertainment it provides. I miss to the smell of fresh air and my family. These creatures kept me unconscious for most of the first two days, now, just drugged and I don't like it. I'd make an awful drug addict.

  28. Stephen, I finally got things figured out on how to become a follower of your blog...(actually the daughter having the pregnancy issues and her family have moved in so we can take care of the whole clan...she set me up with necessary requirements and Wha-La!! I'm on!) So having followed you for many months, I knew something serious was happening when you did not acknowledge a new friend. (No guilt here! I've just been very observant!)Mentioned it to the hubby and we immediately decided to include you in our prayers for little Sebastian and others who are sick. I agree with Odysseus, its amazing how quickly feelings and concern can develop for some people you have never even met. You had us worried sick. so please..don't push the health issue. Your wife, Little Bit and your readers need your wit, humor, insight, and presence. Little Bit seems to have had a bit of a preminition..all the questions about you, heaven, dying. Maybe it wasn't so much about her needs as yours. You know what they saw..."out of the mouths of babes" Pay attention! and take care of yourself! You're in our prayers.
