Now here's a movement I can 'get behind.' When the government tells us we can't buy and consume raw milk they have essentially taken away another one of your freedoms...and I for one think it sucks...pun intended. I understand a few ladies have plans to march on Washington and eat cookies and cakes baked with raw milk, and furthermore - Oh save us great government, drink raw milk. Good for them.
Check it out...here.
I was raised around milk cows and drank many a gallon as a child....still here and kicking.
Stephen
Milk never lasts long in our house. 2 gallons a day easy.
ReplyDeleteSoylent Green is made from people!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the governmint will be distributing it to the masses soon.
Next will be we our women can't breastfeed our babies (raw milk) and will have to only use USDA approved formula.
Sad.
oh i wish that i could go!!! i'd pour raw milk all over myself!!!
ReplyDeletebut anyway, my blogging friend Phelan has been all over this milk issue for some months now. for anyone interested, i am linking to one her posts from last May about a raw milk rally for an Amish farmer. look through her older posts for more information on the raw milk issue.
and while you are there, take a look around her blog. she is a death metal homesteader and we have learned so much from her blog over the years. she knows her business and she tells it like it is. anyway here is the link to the article:

and here is the link to her blog:

thanks Stephen - i like to give a shout out to blogs that i follow and enjoy. Phelan only has 396 followers - let's see if we can get her to 400 - bahahahahaha!
your friend,
kymber
bloody hell - ANOTHER controlled substance ;-)
ReplyDeletein all seriousness, food processing is way up there in my "conspiracy theory" brain.
pasteurization destroys an enormous quantity of the nutrients in milk, here's a fun article from, oh, 1938:
http://www.realmilk.com/rawvpasteur.html
the more processed food becomes, the more people become weakened to "POSSIBLE" germs etc. that occur everywhere.
our immune system is designed to protect us. it is a learning system that adds antibodies to itself over our lifetime. ones that we produce ourselves. a good example is chicken pox. once you get it, you develop the antibody and are then immune.
a strong healthy immune system begins with breast milk, so try and tie that to a ban on raw milk!
how is this a conspiracy theory? who stands to benefit?
Pfizer, Merck & Co. etc.
before the WHOLESALE processing of food, people didn't take anything like the quantities of drugs, supplements etc. that they do today. i add wholesale because preserving food is essential to survival.
but you should eat fresh when you can, whenever you can. very very hard to do these days.
to quote kymber:
"off the soapbox now"
kymber,
ReplyDeleteI'm following her now. You seem to be right most of the time and my wife has beaten "never doubt a woman" into me enough.
Rob, We use about a gallon a week.
ReplyDeleteMudbug, very true. Thanks.
kymber and jamie, thanks, great information and I'll check out the blog...if I can ever get a free minute...
Muddy (i stole that from Matt) - you be a very good man. me like. yer ma brotha!
ReplyDeleteStephen - thanks for stopping in to Phelan's blog. she really knows her stuff and calls a spade a spade. i have been reading and learning from her for years.
your friend,
kymber
kymber, you are welcome...see, I know how to follow orders. The moment I arrived at her site I recognized it. Used to read her work back three or four years ago. Lost track of her. She's very down to earth for sure. Thanks, Sista...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out Kymber. And thank you to the new followers.
ReplyDeleteI have been ranting about the raw milk issue for a few years now. The biggest news has been the FDA stating in court documents that we "Have to natural right to food". And more recently a Judge in WI saying the same thing in a hearing about raw milk.
Phelan, thank you for the kind comment...nice to have you here.
ReplyDeleteI milk our goats. The milk comes into the house, gets strained, put in glass jars and then plunged down in ice to cool quickly. We drink it fresh. I make buttermilk with it for baking biscuits and corn bread. I also make fresh yogurt and mix my own fruit , homey or preserves in it. Been doing this for 3 years now and we have never had one illness from our milk. I have never had enough milk at one time to make cheese but that will change come next spring. Our does are being bred this week for March and April kids. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see "Nanny" Government come in and try to pry the milk glass from anyone's hands here!
I love how the commercial food produsers can make many folks sick and dead but get the okiedoke from the USDA and the FDA but raw milk has been linked to 2 deaths in 10 years and it's a menace. Our cars should have such a safety record!
ReplyDeleteMamma Bear, I knew I liked you...don't change. Bless your heart. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAdventures, it's nothing more than control, their control of our lives. They believe they are the powers (or, the Aristocracy, if you like) over us peasants. Thanks.
I too am all for Raw Milk to an extent. Having some dairy experience and knowledge of the crap they really do put in the milk to make the bad milk ok..I will only tell the truth. Raw milk in itself-not bad of you use it up quick, easy to do when there were milk drinkers in our house and still have 2 big ones now. One problem is TB,very common and still happens today.
ReplyDeleteThey can have raw milk and sell it unprocessed also. Milk--clean not a problem.
The Problem with the ladies doing the Go To Washington--they are picking up milk in Pennylvania and taking it to Maryland in front of the FDA builing with their little cookies. Here it is folks--its all about crossing those state lines. You can bring in raw milk, but for the safety reasons it needs to be check for chemicals and other things. If not processed just use it fast. What those ladies are doing wrong is crossing that state line---it is Illegal, and believe me it is there for a reason!! Buy your milk at Wally World with no hormones!!
Kingturkeyoak, I still stand with the raw milk ladies as I too prefer my milk raw...screw wally-world. Thanks for the comment...nice to have you back.
ReplyDeleteErr
ReplyDeleteAnoymous, now you can do better than that...really, come on back and say hello. And, thanks for the 'err.'
ReplyDeleteJust a bad day. . .Sorry
ReplyDeleteI'm back to say hello. The err was not intended here I'm posting on 2 blogs at the same time. I have a lot of things going on, as everyone out there, at times I just can't get the info out in midstage. I'm having a lot of medical tests right now, and every other day, I get mad, and cancel one. I do not have the patience to be there all day when appt is at 7:30am and I don't get to leave till 2:30pm. It just pisses me OFF! I'm down to the last 2 tests, hopefully finish them this week. 6, I have already done since last week..errr.
ReplyDeleteAnon, no problem..
ReplyDeleteKingturkeyoak, I understand, no worries....
