The Bug Out Weekend

Our group had a nice weekend out at the Boar's Nest. For those of you new here, the Boar's Nest is the name we've tagged our bunkhouse/kitchen/storage building we constructed on pilings on a river bottom. It is our BOL. We spent a few hours slapping insulation on the ceiling and a few other minor chores then hit the range. In between we ate and played poker as the winds and rain kept cadence on the metal roof. We slept well.

Pictures in random order.

Above, my friend Duke popping targets.

Rain, all weekend.

Duke, making his famous beans.

Our dinner table. Oil lamps and handguns optional.

My good friend, Senior Chief, and husband of Jacked Up Glock Mom, in silent prayer breakfast won't upset his tummy.

Our friend and new aux member, Russell decided to test some storage wheat. He mixed it fifty-fifty with all purpose flour and made pancakes for the crew. I think Duke ate a baker's dozen. They were excellent. Thanks, Russell.

Then a night of poker. All in all, great fun, some hard work, but lots of great friendship.

Stephen

  1. We need to explain how to play "welfare poker" you know where we take bailouts and force those who have more to re-distribute the wealth

  2. Duke, some secrets we should hold close to our vest. Why spoil the fun. Besides, 'welfare poker' might spread, then look at the mess we'd create in our world.

  4. Must be fun to get out and away ever so often with some good folks. Come "The Road" time the cannibals had better watch out in that part of the country.

  5. Rob, we did indeed. Thank you.

Arsenius, very true. With the riflemen we muster it would be a fools errand. Thank you.

  8. MMMMM, pancakes and beans. What more do you need for a great meal. Except you should of had road egg's. That's one of my brother in-laws favorite dishes. (That's eggs he cooked along side of a dirt road in the high country of Colo. And he dropped them out of the skillet, on the road, scooped them up and put them back in the skillet.)

And, as for the poker. If I was there, I'd be better off just handing you guys my money.

  9. JUGM, don't believe everything you hear, my dear. Thanks for the comment.

Jamie, thank you. Ebay has a ton of good Coleman stoves for sale.

Flier389, We had eggs. I stuck the pictures into the post in a random order...you have pictures of breakfast, then dinner. At dinner we also had burgers Senior Chief grilled, salad, beans, and other stuff I forget...good chow. We played with chips, no value, you'd win too. Thanks.

  11. Yes duke, Russel and I did provide you and Stephen with numerous handouts of wealth re-distrubution during that poker night, but it had no value so who cares. Geez, am I on to something????? Would only take you and Stephen to Vegas as body guards for my winnings, and that's it.

  12. Duke, not many even attempt to shoot clays with a handgun. At least you tried.

    Joe, huh? Play nice.

  15. More like stephen was losing, and it's pretty obvious by the last picture in his post with 4 20's, 1 10 chip and 1 5 chip in front of him. How ironic he failed to show my pile in this picture.
