If you look at the photo(how their feet are situated in the grass), they are also not in line with each other, but about 3-4 feet out of alignment. It only looks like he is aiming straight at the other boy's head.
I didn't want others to look at it like it was what it looked like. Too many would start screaming for gun control because we have kids pointing guns at kids. They would not have bothered to examine it too close :p
