My Promise to You

If you leave a comment on my blog I shall respond. It might take me a while, but I promise to reply to any and all comments, good or bad.
As my dear departed mother would have said, it's just good manners. I have left hundreds if not thousands of comments on the blogs I follow over a number of years. Most never respond. I no longer follow those blogs. I feel if a reader has taken the time to click and reply the least I can do as the writer is show them respect and acknowledge their efforts.

Thank you,
Stephen

  1. I tell ya friend, right on. I have the hardest time getting comments and I do understand why for the most part.
Some days it is hard to even find something to write about much less have the time and will to comment at random on a daily bases.
Just like you, I do comment on every comment that is left. Even if it is just a general thank you.
I wished every blogger had your "Good Manners"
I also get several emails a week from people asking me animal questions and or criticizing me for being a Republican. I kinda like those.
    Keep up the good work.

  2. MDR, you are one of the good guys, knew that the moment I found you blog. BTW, I am almost finished reading all your work...fine reading.
    Thank you.

  3. Thanks buddy. I have not had the chance to do the same but intend to. One of these days I plan to go back and read mine back through just to see what in the world I was thinking.
That is how all this got started in the first place. My short term memory is not all that good and I wanted to have an account of what I did wrong and what went right sometimes. I had no idea I would actually have people reading it from all over the world.
    Thanks again.

  4. Responding to comments is just the right thing to do. I like the sense of community it brings. Knowing someone cares enough about what we write to comment. That deserves a comment back!

  5. MDR, I understand the memory thing. I'm writing mine for my grandchildren, Little Bit and Sport Model, six year and eight months. I try, it isn't always possible, to read all entries in a new blog. Feels like reading a novel in a more personal form. You write well. As an older redneck country boy myself, it's peaceful.

Lila, you're correct, it's the caring and acknowledgment of someone's hard work. Thank you.

  6. I like the "Little Bit" and "Sport Model" names. I joke with my wife that our kids will be called "Barq's" and "Krispy Kreme", but only on days that the doghouse looks comfy.

I usually just read Survivalblog and Rural-Revolution for my blog information, but I am branching out to others with their mindset. I can learn more that way.

  7. Thanks, Mudbug, I will not use real names of my family, so I instead use my pet names for them. There are just too many weird critters out there in the cold dark world. I agree you should read a few more blogs, like you said, you learn.
    Thanks, again.

  8. I'm with Lila here, there's a sense of community when people interact with each other through the blogs and comments.
I find a lot of the blogs I follow just by going to the people who have left comments on a post I liked. I figure if they like reading similar things, they might have info on their own blog that I could learn from. :-)

  9. Very true, Laura. Seems I add someone daily to my already large blog roll, and I make an effort each day to read each, even if it's just a quick scan. I've made more friends in the last ten days than I have in the last ten years just by clicking on my comments. Some fine people out there floating around the internet. Like you.

  10. I just wanted to say hello and thank you for your words of wisdom. As you (and your parents) said. "It's just good manners". I am guilty of not responding to comments at times. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I realize, after reading this post, just how rude I have been to my readers. This post has truly opened my eyes. Thank you.
PS Thank you for putting me on your blogroll. I'll be adding you as well.
    Have a Super Day!
